Police are urging the public to be patient during a homicide investigation in downtown Winnipeg that has forced them to close a large section of Portage Avenue. Police have not provided any details about the victim of the homicide in downtown Winnipeg but say Portage Avenue around the MTS Centre will be closed until around noon. Westbound Portage is blocked at Smith Street and eastbound Portage is blocked at Hargrave Street. ​One block of Donald Street is also blocked, between Ellice Avenue and Portage. Police tape surrounds the street in front of the MTS Centre, where clothing and blood can be seen on a curb.
