The first exclusive batch of Adivasis recruited in the State police force is set for deployment. As many as 74 of them will complete their nine-month training on Wednesday when they pass out of the Kerala Police Academy after a special parade. Police academy trainers said it was an exceptionally good group of Adivasis enjoying a great attitudinal edge. The 74-member civil police officers passing out from the academy are the maiden batch of tribal youths recruited in a special drive against the increasing threat of Maoists in the State. P. Ajila was chosen the best indoor cadet and M. Aswathy became the best outdoor cadet.
