KOTA BARU: Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department has identified 17 religious schools which have not been registered with the local religious authority. Apart from not being registered with the state Islamic Religious Council (MAIK), these religious schools have also been categorised as being of high risk of catching fire. “The figure was recorded during our random inspection (on religious schools) but we believed the exact number might be more. Zamri said most of the 17 religious schools were operating privately and were located in Kelantan’s rural areas. He said 46 religious schools in Kelantan were registered under MAIK and they have complied with all safety aspects.
