Vertonghen was looking to connect with a free-kick as Onana came out to punch the ball clear. Alderweireld was also attempting to header the ball and the nasty three-way collision saw Vertonghen come off worst. There was immediate concern for Vertonghen as the players were left in a heap on the floor. Spurs came into the game after a shaky start with the introduction of Moussa Sissoko to replace Vertonghen helping them see more of the ball. But they could not find an equaliser leaving them with it all to do in the second leg next week.
