Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has reaffirmed that he will not be anyone’s running mate in 2017 in the race for governor – he wants the top job. Awiti is Wiper’s treasurer and has been crisscrossing the county in search of votes since last year. Joho, the ODM deputy party leader, will defend his seat on an ODM ticket. However, his insistence that he will be going all the way to the ballot has left many pondering next moves. There is talk he might team up with Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar to boost their chances of dislodging incumbent Hassan Joho.
