Renovation of the County General Hospital is currently underway at a cost of Sh 150 million. The new facility will be set up next to the County General Hospital, which serves as a referral unit in Western. The Kakamega government signed the contracts for the construction of the 500-bed hospital with a Chinese company on Tuesday. The construction of a new Sh6.1 billion teaching and referral hospital in Kakamega will start next month. Kakamega County Health Advisory Board chairman Stanley Khainga on April 20 said Masinde Muliro university had set aside 10 acres for the medical school.
