Mombasa MCAs fight spells doom for Joho

The questions have emerged after the Tuesday scuffle in which MCAs engaged in a fist fight over an attempt to bring a motion to sack speaker Thadeus Rajwayi. Questions have now arisen as to whether Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is losing his grip on the county’s MCAs who were once loyal allies. All the 43 MCAs were either elected or nominated on ODM, of which Joho is deputy leader. Some 28 MCAs support Rajwayi, while the remaining 15 support Hatimy, who drives Joho’s agenda in the assembly. Kongowea MCA Jabez Oduor said Hatimy wants to sack Rajwayi because he barred him from sitting in the County Assembly Service Board.
