People have been told to only leave their homes when they need essentials, like medicine and food, or once a day for exercise. When they are outside, gatherings are banned and people must stay more than six feet from one another. The measures have been introduced in a bid to slow the spread of Covid-19 to enable the NHS to cope with the sickest patients. Police have been given powers to fine or arrest those who are found to be flouting the rules.
