Paul, who is alive and now 77, was said by many to have died - and been replaced by bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison with an imposter. During a 1974 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Paul and then-wife Linda, Paul told that he'd received a call telling him that fans were worried he'd died. Paul admitted that he saw an opportunity in the swirling rumours, adding: "I said leave it, just let them say it. John, George and Ringo were having none of it - John told that he said nothing about Paul at the end of Strawberry Fields. One big supposed clue was the mention of Billy Shears, mentioned in Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club track, who fans took to be Paul's replacement.
