Coronavirus rapidly subdues infected people, danger will linger, scientists say

This image, not from HKU study, shows a CT scan from a man infected with the virus. Pneumonia caused by the new severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 can show up as hazy patches on lungs, indicated by arrows. Microbiologists from the University of Hong Kong, led by Yuen Kwok-yung and Jasper Chan studied how the coronavirus affects the human lungs. Yuen said the findings suggested that Hong Kong would not be able to return to any sort of normality before July at the earliest. “That’s why many people say that Hong Kong is probable one of the safest part in the world and we are very proud to see that hope that it could continue.”-Photo: AP
