CALOOCAN City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan ordered a barangay chairman and his three councilmen caught on video engaging in illegal cockfighting inside the Manila North Cemetery last Good Friday to surrender. Malapitan identified the offenders as Barangay 129 Chairman Brix John Rolly Reyes and Councilmen Alfie Lacson, Romualdo Reyes and John Cris Domingo. In a text message to The Manila Times, Malapitan said the barangay chairman was not only there to engage in ‘tupada’ (illegal cockfight) but was allegedly the ‘promotor’ or the one who initiated the illegal activity. The city government will conduct its own investigation to verify the complaint and I will not hesitate to impose sanctions against them, including suspension),” the Caloocan mayor said. The Caloocan mayor was so furious because the barangay chairman and his three councilmen should have been actively helping the city government in preparing and distributing food packs to the residents.
