Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit (R) receives Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias (L) – Courtesy of the Arab LeagueCAIRO – 8 March 2021: Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit urged establishing a cooperation mechanism to enhance Arab-Greek relations, as he met on Monday with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias. Receiving the minister in Cairo, Aboul Gheit urged establishing the mechanism to also maintain periodic political coordination between the Arab League and Greece in various regional and international forums, a statement by the Arab League read. Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League’s support to the new executive authority in Libya and expressed hope that the Libyan Parliament convenes to vote and grant confidence to the new national unity government. Dendias also met, during his visit to Cairo, with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. They have discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields and regional issues of mutual concern.
