INCUMBENT Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commissioner Emilio Aquino has been appointed the new chairman of the corporate regulator. Aquino, who has served the commission since 1993, takes the post of former chairman Teresita Herbosa whose seven-year term ended in March this year. He was named SEC commissioner in December 2016, replacing Manuel Huberto Gaite. “We warmly cheer the appointment of Chairman Aquino whom we feel will lead the SEC into a new chapter of change,” the commission said in a statement. Aquino graduated magna cum laude from the Universidad de Zamboanga with a degree in accounting.
