After 34 years of thrilling vacationers, the towering waterslides of central Alberta’s Wild Rapids are up for sale on Kijiji. Not too long ago, Wild Rapids was a summertime destination that lured tens of thousands of visitors each year. Located in the resort town of Sylvan Lake, west of Red Deer, the two-hectare park is a short drive for families in both Edmonton and Calgary. Wild Rapids was built in 1982, and even the newest slide is about 18 years old. In June, Wild Rapids announced the mounting costs of maintaining the waterslides would force it to close after Labour Day.
