‘No extension to tax-filing deadline’ – The Manila Times

Despite calls for an extension in light of the “enhanced community quarantine” imposed on Luzon, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reiterated that the April 15 deadline for the filing of 2019 income tax returns (ITRs) stays. The Internal Revenue chief urged taxpayers to use the electronic-filing facilities of his bureau to limit their exposure to people who might carry or infected by the coronavirus. Taxpayers enrolled in the BIR’s Electronic Filing and Payment System shall continue to settle their tax liabilities with the authorized agent bank (AAB) where they are enrolled. “If there is no tax to be paid, the same are required to be filed through eBIRForm facilities,” he added. The BIR is tasked to collect P2.5 trillion in taxes this year, a 7.29-percent increase from the P2.33 trillion collected in 2019.
