Luzon airports shut down – The Manila Times

All commercial flights operating in airports in Luzon would be suspended starting Friday, March 20, as the government expanded the community quarantine over the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). President Rodrigo Duterte imposed the Luzon-wide community quarantine on Monday as the new virus continues its rampage in the country. “Outbound passengers intending to depart the Philippines from any of the international airports in Luzon shall be allowed to travel for a period of 72 hours from the effectivity of the enhanced community quarantine,” the guidelines issued on Monday said. Duterte’s order also called for a total ban on public transportation, freezing the region’smain railway systems Light Rail Transit Lines 1 and 2, Metro Rail Transit 3, and Philippine National Railways. Other land transportation modes were also halted, including public utility buses, jeepneys, taxis, Transport Network Vehicle Service, FX, UV Express, Point-to-Point buses, and motorcycle taxis.
