The pending arrival of Soyuz MS-23 will be a welcome sight for two ISS crew members, who have been without a reliable lifeboat for months. The purpose of this expedited mission is to replace their Soyuz-22 spacecraft, which suffered a coolant leak late last year. The uncrewed Soyuz MS-23 will launch atop a Russian Soyuz 2.1a rocket. Should all go as planned, the unpiloted Soyuz MS-23 will dock to the space station’s Poisk module at 8:01 p.m. The MS-23 mission was supposed to launch last week, but a surprise second coolant leak, this time with Russia’s Progress 82 freighter, resulted in a slight pause.

Why must Lankans celebrate an Independence Day at all? Where the word Independence Day was not even mentioned but left to be assumed? Let other nations that celebrate independence, do so if they wish. The masses, including Lankans, have long been conditioned to believe in the Independence Day frenzy as an expression of patriotic fervour and gladly join the revelry. As Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said last month: ‘A country that cannot celebrate independence, has no future’.

Anna ConklingLVIV, Ukraine—Vladimir Putin has consistently used the oppression of Jews to justify his full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Instead, it has invoked the horrors of World War II into the lives of Russia’s public. Few Jewish communities in Ukraine have been depleted like that in Lviv, the once vibrant cultural hub for the religion. “He wants to restart the spread of communism in the world, and he wants to establish a bank system in the Soviet-style,” Meylakh Sheykhet, Director for the Ukraine Department of the Union Council of Soviet Union Jews, told The Daily Beast. And bring back the Soviet system of watching people, monitoring people, and leaving [us] afraid to not have any justice to keep their freedom.”Read more at The Daily Beast.

Photo Illustration by Thomas Levinson/The Daily Beast/Warner BrosIt’s no mystery why the Magic Mike franchise appeals to women, and it should have little problem enticing them back to theaters for the third and final installment in the series, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, this weekend. What many may not realize, however, is that director Steven Soderbergh and star Channing Tatum’s trilogy isn’t just a ribald sexual romp tailor-made to raise the temperatures of female moviegoers. Because Magic Mike is—let it be heard from club to shining strip club!—also for the guys, the dudes, and the bros. When it debuted in 2012, Soderbergh’s original Magic Mike appeared to be merely a raunchy dramedy— based in part on its headliner’s early days as an exotic dancer—about a group of male strippers taking it all off to the delight of hooting-and-hollering ladies in Tampa, Florida. This week, Switzerland-based Backed Finance launched a tokenized version of a BlackRock ETF (CSPX) that includes tons of big names like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, and 496 other large American companies. The token is called bCSPX, and runs on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token. The token is backed 1:1 by shares of those stocks, and the shares are held by a licensed custodian, according to Backed. In terms of who can get a hold of these tokens, it looks like there’s three kinds of users. You can't get the token in the United States—likely a decision by Backed Finance to avoid having to navigate the SEC's choppy regulatory waters right now.

WASHINGTON (TheHill) — Surgeon General Vivek Murthy on Sunday cautioned that, despite many app guidelines, 13-year-olds are too young to join social media. “What is the right age for a child to start using social media? Researchers and lawmakers alike have long debated both the health and security risks for children consuming social media content and sharing their own data on the apps. The surgeon general called for increased transparency from social media platforms and safety standards for apps before they hit the digital marketplace. That is not true in general of social media,” Murthy said.

But like many other solar power projects in the country, it’s been delayed as Fortum India struggles to source and pay for necessary components. “For the last six months, we have not been able to finish developing any new projects,” said Manoj Gupta, who oversees Fortum India’s solar projects in India. The government says it wants to encourage the domestic manufacture of components required to produce solar power and reduce the country’s reliance on imports. But only 63 gigawatts of solar power were ultimately installed last year, according to Indian federal government data. Otherwise domestic manufacturing would have taken a strong root already,” said Gyanesh Chaudhary, vice chairman at Vikram Solar, an Indian solar manufacturer.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Novak Djokovic climbed into the Rod Laver Arena stands to celebrate his 10th Australian Open championship and record-tying 22nd Grand Slam title Sunday and, after jumping and pumping his fists with his team, he collapsed onto his back, crying. This was also the 93rd ATP tour-level title for Djokovic, breaking a tie with Nadal for the fourth-most. Too speedy and flexible on the run (other than when, moving to his left, Djokovic took a tumble). Yet Djokovic pushes and pushes and pushes some more, until it’s the opponent who is something less than perfect on one swing, either missing or providing an opening to pounce. Still, Srdjan Djokovic did not attend his son’s semifinal or the final.
