Republicans hold 20 of Florida's 28 U.S. House districts, and eight of those lawmakers have announced their support for Trump. That's important as Trump tries to assert himself as the undisputed leader of the GOP in seeking the 2024 nomination. So far, DeSantis has three congressional endorsements, including one from Florida, first-term Rep. Laurel Lee, who served as DeSantis’ secretary of state for more than three years. During the height of the pandemic, he did not participate in regularly nightly conference calls of Republican governors, according to Gov. Chris Sununu, R-N.H.“All the Republican governors, for the most part, are pretty tight.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AP) — A 13-year-old boy had to be freed from a claw machine after he climbed inside hoping to score a prize, according to an official at a North Carolina amusement park. Carowinds officials were alerted just before 2 p.m. Sunday that the boy was inside the Cosmic XL Bonus Game, which contained plush prizes, according to Courtney C. McGarry Weber, a spokesperson for the park south of Charlotte. The medical response team unlocked the machine and the boy was able to get out, she said. He was treated and released from first aid to his guardian. The boy has been banned from the park for one year for attempted theft, Weber said.

Source: phys.orgIn a unique analysis of experimental data, nuclear physicists have made the first-ever observations of how lambda particles, so-called "strange matter," are produced by a specific process called semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS). What's more, these data hint that the building blocks of protons, quarks and gluons, are capable of marching through the atomic nucleus in pairs called diquarks, at least part of the time. These results come from an experiment conducted at the U.S. Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility.

KYIV – A top Ukrainian official said Monday that Ukraine will launch its counteroffensive against Russian troops when it’s ready, adding that it’s only a matter of time before the country achieves the necessary level of military preparedness to do so. But he also expressed frustration that sometimes officials from allied countries “promise one thing and do a completely different one.” He didn't elaborate. “If we aren’t ready, then nobody will start unprepared,” he said. That would open Ukraine’s skies to more of the Russian air and artillery strikes that already have devastated cities and infrastructure. Ukrainian officials have said they’re buying time by depleting Russian forces in the battle while Kyiv prepares a counteroffensive.

Two key electricity supply stations in Russia have been destroyed amid a suspected Ukrainian drone attack behind enemy lines. Stunning footage taken overnight showed how the bombing of the power stations had created a huge inferno which spiralled high into the night sky. 'In Belgorod and the Belgorod region, two fires were recorded at civilian facilities,' he said, adding there had not been any casualties. The suspected strikes came as Ukraine is reportedly preparing a counteroffensive to grab back territory from invading Russian forces. But officials in Kyiv have also spoken of using sabotage tactics to cause fires and disrupt logistics in Russia.

Putin and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu met with Gen. Li Shangfu less than a month after Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a three-day state visit to Moscow. China has refused to criticize Russia’s military actions in Ukraine and blames the United States and NATO for provoking Moscow. But China’s foreign minister said last week that China wouldn't be helping Russia with weapons, as the U.S. and other Western allies have feared.

ReutersWagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin says Russia has already accomplished its goals in Ukraine—but must keep fighting even if it means humiliating defeat so that the country can ultimately rise again as a “war monster” that the international community will bow down to. In addition to predicting that Russia would ultimately come back stronger than ever, Prigozhin appeared to admit that Ukraine may win its territories back, acknowledged that the Kremlin’s plan had failed, and predicted a full-blown revolution in Russia. “For the authorities and for society as a whole, it is necessary today to put a decisive end to the [special military operation.] The ideal scenario is to announce the end of the [special military operation], to inform everyone that Russia has achieved the results that it planned, and in a sense we have actually achieved them. We have ground down a huge number of fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and we can report that the tasks of the [special military operation] have been completed,” he wrote.

(Gao Feng/Xinhua via AP)(Gao Feng, Xinhua)BEIJING – Chinese leader Xi Jinping was due to meet visiting Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Friday in Beijing as the leaders seek to boost ties between two of the world’s largest developing nations. Brazil is the biggest recipient of Chinese investment in Latin America, according to Chinese state media, although Lula has spoken against outright Chinese ownership of Brazilian companies. Lula's China visit follows trips to Argentina and Uruguay in January and to the U.S. in February, signaling the importance he places on international affairs in contrast to Bolsonaro. A key piece of Lula’s outreach abroad is his proposal that Brazil and other developing countries, including China, mediate peace over Ukraine. China has also sought to play a role in ending the conflict, though in a manner highly supportive of Moscow.
