The study found that reported dog bites tend to increase on days with higher temperatures as well as days with higher UV or certain pollution levels. Then they cross-referenced the data with daily weather and pollution data in those cities. All in all, there were almost 70,000 recorded dog bites during the study period. Compared to days with lower UV—or low sunlight exposure—recorded dog bites went up by 11% on higher UV days. They also went up by 4% on higher temperature days, and by 3% on days with higher levels of ozone, a common pollutant.

We’re still not over the sight of SpaceX’s Starship rocket exploding in a fiery flame following its first-ever liftoff, but the company is reportedly ready to see its heavy-duty launch vehicle fly once again. Starship’s first launch sent a cloud of dust and debris to the surrounding area, causing damage to the launchpad. SpaceX also moved its next Starship prototype, Ship 25, to the launch mount ahead of a static fire test, Teslarati reported. With all these repairs underway, SpaceX still needs the green light from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to launch Starship for a second test flight. SpaceX recently filed to fight alongside the FAA in this lawsuit.

As hunter-gatherers—the subsistence strategy that all humans followed until the invention of agriculture—our survival depended on daily sharing of food between unrelated adult males and females.

A new study using data from ESA's Gaia survey this June has revealed an additional six runaways, two of which break the record for the fastest radial velocity of any runaway star ever seen: 1,694 km/s and 2,285 km/s.

The Air Quality Index shot above 400 in some places (including NYC), well into the danger zone for human health. Thankfully, shifting air currents and weather improved air quality over the weekend. Already Canadian smoke is dipping back down into the lower 48 while, of course, continuing to inundate parts of Canada as well. In both these instances, the smoke has hovered relatively high up in the atmosphere, causing minimal air quality impacts lower down. The summer is just getting started, and this summer is only the beginning.

The United Nations has sounded the alarm over AI-generated deepfakes being used to spread hate and misinformation on social media. In a report released Monday, “Information Integrity on Digital Platforms,” the global organization underscored the need for responsible AI use. Information integrity refers to the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of information, which the United Nations says is threatened by disinformation, misinformation, and hate speech. "These risks have further intensified because of rapid advancements in technology, such as generative artificial intelligence," United Nations Secretary-General Guterres wrote in the introduction to the report. A look at the Clinton, Biden and Trump investigations and what separates them:WHAT DID CLINTON DO? Clinton relied on a private email system for the sake of convenience during her time as the Obama administration's top diplomat. That decision came back to haunt her when, in 2015, the intelligence agencies' internal watchdog alerted the FBI to the presence of potentially hundreds of emails containing classified information. FBI investigators would ultimately conclude that Clinton sent and received emails containing classified information on that unclassified system, including information classified at the top-secret level. Of the roughly 30,000 emails turned over by Clinton's representatives, the FBI has said, 110 emails in 52 email chains were found to have classified information, including some at the top-secret level.

Politics a fertile ground for hate speech lies View(s):My dear Dr. Shafi,I thought I must write to you when I heard that you had recently recommenced work at the same hospital where you worked before, after you were officially ‘reinstated’ some time ago. I am not sure whether we should say ‘congratulations’ or hang our heads in shame about what happened to you. This was accompanied by absurd statement that sterilisations were being done through wearing certain garments or eating a ‘koththu’! It must be said that even the rest of the medical community failed you. Dr. Shafi, you haven’t been able to prevent us from falling victim to the next set of lies that will be put before us.
