Glitch in online system means expecting mums aren't eligible for Pfizer vaccine
In late July, the federal government sent doctors a document outlining that pregnant women were 'a priority' and 'immediately eligible' for a Pfizer vaccine. This means that any woman under 40 is deemed not eligible for the Pfizer vaccine on that online checker, even if they are pregnant. 'Until that time, any pregnant women seeking vaccination should call the National Coronavirus Hotline to find relevant clinics.' This means that pregnant women are not able to book the Pfizer jab through the checker a fortnight after the announcement. 'Pregnant women should be considered a vulnerable group.

Karlsson, 36, a Kandy-born who was adopted by her Swedish parents when she was three months old, competed for Sweden until 2018, when she switched to her native country. In 2021, Mathilda qualified as an individual rider for Tokyo Olympics, being the first Sri Lankan equestrian at an Olympic Games.

The tournament will be conducted by SLC with the participation of all national and first-class cricketers in preparations for the upcoming South Africa tour of Sri Lanka followed by the T20 World Cup 2021 in October this year. Each team will play six games in the initial round of the League whilst the top two teams will qualify for the final, which will be played on 24 August. Middle Eastern digital tourism promotion campaign from Sept.BY Cassendra DooleThe visa fee for the recently approved Digital Nomad Visa will be $ 600, according to sources from the Ministry of Tourism. Digital tourists – referred to more commonly as digital nomads – often stay in public libraries or cafes to provide their services online. Many tourist attractions such as Thailand’s Chiang Mai, Portugal’s Lisbon, Colombia’s, Medellin and Indonesia’s Bali have taken strenuous steps to promote digital tourism. The Ministry added that Sri Lanka soon hopes to become among the top favourites for digital tourists. Further, promoting digital tourism can easily be done in accordance with the health guidelines required due to the pandemic situation.

Fencing the village strategy
Recently, a breathtaking video of 200 elephants crossing the road emerged on Twitter, portraying the “fencing the village” strategy used to mitigate the human-elephant conflict (HEC) in the Galgamuwa area. Speaking to a wildlife conservationist who wished to remain anonymous, we learnt that Galgumuwa has been trialing the “fencing the village” strategy in opposition to “fencing off protected areas”, thus cutting off historical wild elephant corridors. However, with time, on the flipside, the idea that wildlife should not be outside protected areas became dominant. The management of elephants has two major objectives: HEC mitigation and elephant conservation, with the former taking priority in practice. Fencing the village is one such strategy.

The completion of the first phase ensures seamless operations between airports across the country. Being in one of the primary revenue-generating organisations for our country’s economy, I’m excited to embark on this journey with IFS. This is a collective effort of individuals coming together to support and contribute to the national economy given the uncertain Covid-19 pandemic situation. The Easter Attack Survivors Project: Survivors become voices for positive change
The Easter Attack Survivors Project (EASP) is a dynamic group of volunteers emerging from all religious communities and localities in Sri Lanka. The voluntary organisation is headed by three co-leads representing the three ethnicities of Sri Lanka: Aamina Muhsin, Seth Ganepola, and Lughadarini Yogarajah. The first season was mainly carried out with Easter attack survivors from the Katuwapitiya area. It was learnt that the project was initiated with the objective of providing a single platform for the Easter attack survivors to tell their stories and listen to others who have gone through similar experiences. They also intend to raise awareness on a large scale of the stories and lives of the survivors post the Easter attack.

After much hard work and dedication, his photography became one of the successful leading photographer brands in Sri Lanka. To Perera, photography is an art of observation.
