A consignment of vaccines containing 728,000 more Oxford-AstraZeneca doses from Japan has arrived in Sri Lanka, says Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals. The newly-received AstraZeneca vaccines will be rolled out in the Kegalle District, Prof. Jayasumana said further. Through the COVAX facility, the Japanese Government provided approximately 1.45 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in Japan to further boost Sri Lanka’s national inoculation drive. The first half of this vaccine consignment arrived in Sri Lanka last Saturday (July 31). This donation allowed Sri Lanka to resume the administration of AstraZeneca second doses, which was disrupted by India’s decision to temporarily halt AstraZeneca’s COVISHIELD vaccines in order to meet the domestic demand followed by a surge in COVID-19 infections at home in March.

One of the three schoolboys from St. Anthony’s College, Kandy who played in the same team and then went on to represent Sri Lanka. Wijetunge, a left-arm orthodox slow bowler, formed a menacing partnership with Muttiah Muralitharan, terrorising batsman from other schools. However, the St. Anthony’s spin trio could not bowl Sri Lanka to victory on the final day as they did many times at school, as a defiant century from Jonty Rhodes held them at bay1983 – Birth of Dutch footballer Robin Van Persie. There were a few other records, though, on that bizarre day at Khettarama: Sri Lanka stormed to 952/6, the highest score in Test history, and Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama batted throughout two full days’ play. Gordon played all five Tests in that series, his only one, and took 20 wickets.

‘CHINA VS. USA’ – CAN CHINA CREATE HISTORY IN TOKYO 2020? * Tokyo 2020 is officially the 32nd Summer Olympics* But in fact it is the 29th Summer Olympics as no Games was held for three times; in 1916 (due to World War I), and 1940 and 1944 (both times due to World War II)* The winner of the Olympics is traditionally decided by the number of gold medals won by each participating country* In some instances, though, the winner is decided by the total number of medals won; or the tally of gold, silver, and bronze medals won by each country* According to the formal ‘gold-medal-tally’, USA had been the leading country of 17 Summer Olympics out of the 28 completed so far* It was only on 11 times that any other country had won a Summer Olympics* The countries that have won the Summer Olympics other than USA are: In 1900 (won by France), 1908 (Great Britain), 1936 (Germany), 1956, 1960, 1972, 1976, 1980, and 1988 (all those six years by the Soviet Union or USSR), 1992 (won by 15 former Soviet republics who participated under the name ‘Unified Team’), and 2008 (China)* If China can end up winning the most number of gold medals in Tokyo this time, it will be the first country, other than USA or Soviet Union, to win a Summer Olympics more than once

The Gloria cocktail is often spoken of as the lovechild of the Negroni and the Martini, but she’s also totally her own person, too, okay? The Gloria cocktail is most often credited to Trader Vic circa 1947, and is featured in one of his bartender’s manuals. I think this air of mystery is actually quite befitting for Gloria. It’s imperative that both your coupe and mixing glass be as chilled as possible, and that you have plenty of fresh, dry ice to work with—ideally in varying sizes. Generally, you want to stir until the mixing glass has re-frosted, about 30 seconds.

If you have no choice but to order online, you should know how big your feet actually are in centimeters. Unsurprisingly, they’re more widely-used: Almost every shoe manufacturer on the planet includes centimeter measurements in their sizing charts, so once you know your numbers, you can easily find your size in any brand. The two best methods require a ruler or tape measure, a pen and paper, and someone to help. For shoes that need a snug fit and/or will likely stretch out, look for the size that corresponds to 26.5 or 27 centimeters. You may not get the perfect size every single time, but you’ll get a lot closer than you would with traditional number sizes.

Herd immunity against Covid is looking ever-increasingly impossible, scientists say. But one expert told MailOnline that Covid-19 is here to stay and that the key is reaching a 'herd immunity threshold'. The concept of herd immunity was first floated last March, when SARS-CoV-2 and its clever transmission tactics were shrouded in mystery. He told MailOnline: 'To reach herd immunity, there needs to be enough immunity to reduce R below one, even when everyone is back to normal social interactions. Vaccinating children, he added, would allow the UK to get closer to achieving some kind of herd immunity.
