LAHORE - Police setting a remarkable example of public service on emergency call 15 and save an unconscious man in Township areas here on Tuesday.According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Safe City Authority, a call was received on 15 about an unconscious man in the Town Shop area due to severe cold. The Safe City team instructed the Qauid-e-Azam Industrial Estate Police Station for an immediate response. To which, police rescued the citizen. After initial medical aid, officials provided the man with warm clothes, food and tea.

Pakistan records current account surplus of $397m in Dec 2023: SBP
The State Bank of Pakistan has reported an improvement in its current account balance from July to December of the current fiscal yearAccording to the details, the latest figures revealed an improvement in the current account deficit with a loss recorded at $83.1 million during the period of July-Dec FY24, meanwhile $3.62 billion of loss was recorded in the current account balance during the period of July-Dec FY23. This positive trend is a testament to the efforts and strategies implemented by the bank to stabilize its financial standing. The current account balance for December 2023 reflected a surplus of $39.7 million compared to the figures recorded a loss of $36.5 million in December 2022. November 2023 saw a temporary setback, with a current account deficit of $1.5 million. However, the overall trend indicates a positive trajectory in the State Bank’s financial performance.

Bilawal unveils charter of economy

Basketball weekly review and preview: Pinson, Moody, Leeds, Springville
The lone game this week will be a Friday night game against Moody at home. This week, Leeds will go to Spain Park on Tuesday followed by a Friday night rivalry game against Moody. The Blue Devils entered the Purple Palace and the end result was a Springville win, 68-47. Next up was a Friday night trip to Leeds to take on the Greenwave, where it was a last-second win for Springville, 39-38 in what was a great basketball game. This week, Springville will play out of area twice, taking on Fort Payne on Tuesday and traveling to Pelham on Friday night.

Circular debt reaches Rs5.73tr

Govts urged to rein in ‘billionaire class’
Oxfam called on Monday for governments to rein in corporate power by breaking up monopolies; instituting taxes on excess profit and wealth; and promoting alternatives to shareholder control such as forms of employee ownership. “This inequality is no accident; the billionaire class is ensuring corporations deliver more wealth to them at the expense of everyone else,” said Oxfam International Interim Executive Director Amitabh Behar. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, known affectionately as “Jim Jim” His humble heart and kind nature touched the lives of many.
