Internal stability must for any nation to develop: Chinese minister

The Chinese minister made these remarks as he co-chaired, along with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the third meeting of the Pakistan-China Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM) of the political parties on CPEC. The Chinese official said there could be sustainable development only when all political parties in a country join hands to ensure political and social stability. Dar said there is complete unanimity amongst all political parties in Pakistan on CPEC’s importance for Pakistan’s economic growth and sustainable development. Chairman Pakistan-China Institute Mushahid Hussain Sayed reiterated the political parties’ commitment to take the CPEC-II forward.

Factory worker killed during robbery in Karachi
A factory worker was killed during a robbery attempt in the Baldia Saeedabad area of Karachi on Thursday. Putin vows deeper ties with Vietnam in visit criticised by US

An elephant in the ecological room
The role of conflicts, and that of militaries themselves, is often not discussed when it comes to discussing causes of global warming. One apparent reason for not recognising the environmental havoc caused by militaries and conflicts is the absence of data. Besides the global warming and other ecological costs related to varied military campaigns, climate change itself has become a catalyst for conflict. In Pakistan as well, scant attention is given to the military’s broader ecological footprint or to the ecological consequences of its external and internal postures or actions. Conversely, there is ample scholarship demonstrating how militaries of neighbouring countries can use environmental diplomacy to co-manage ecologically threatened areas.

PTI says federal budget against ‘nation, country’s interest’
“This budget was made by an economic hitman,” said Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan while addressing on floor of the National Assembly on Thursday. Speaking about the ambitious targets set in the federal budget, Ayub said the investors do not inject their capital in countries where the rule of law is not supreme. Matthew Perry death's investigation update
