Pakistan plans rail links with Russia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has endorsed this proposal. On the occasion, railways secretary outlined three crucial rail routes to build linkages with Russia and Central Asian states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended aligning the visit of a delegation to Russia with the upcoming Inter-Governmental Commission meeting in September 2024. Planning minister gave directive for conducting a feasibility study on electricity export to China involving the Three Gorges Dam. Pakistan is keen to develop close relationship with Russia as part of efforts to diversify its foreign policy despite pressure from the West.

Malaika Raza visits women, juvenile jail
ISLAMABAD - The PPP Human Rights Cell General Secretary, Malaika Raza, yesterday visited the women and juvenile jail in Karachi to assess the facilities provided for the rehabilitation of women and children in the prison. During her visit, Malaika Raza was briefed by the Women Jail Superintendent Ms Humaira about the various programs and services available for the inmates. Malaika Raza praised the efforts of the Sindh government, stating that the prison reforms established in Sindh are among the best in the country, providing women and children with essential facilities and opportunities for rehabilitation. Malaika Raza emphasised the importance of fair treatment for women in the criminal justice system and reiterated the commitment of the PPP Human Rights Cell to advocate for the rights of women and children in prison. The Cell will continue its visits to women’s jails nationwide to monitor and ensure that women are treated fairly and with dignity.

JI workers removed containers at Faizabad and opened the route, allowing a convoy to enter Rawalpindi and set up at Liaquat Bagh. “The government’s doors were always open and reiterated willingness to hold talks”, he said. JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also warned the government of the consequences if the party was prevented from entering Islamabad for their protest.

Brother of man kicked by Police at Manchester airport was a serving Police officer

WASHINGTON - US President Joe Biden has told Americans in a televised address that he decided to end his faltering re-election campaign in a bid to save US democracy. Mr Biden, 81, said he felt his record as president “merited a second term” but that “nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy”. The White House speech marked his first public appearance since he left the race on 21 July, paving the way for Ms Harris to run for the party’s nomination. Mr Biden said he believed his record warranted a second term but personal ambition should not “come in the way of saving our democracy”. On Thursday, Mr Biden is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, as well as with the families of US hostages still being held in Gaza.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by PEOPLE, Overpeck alleges Brown initiated the violence and used racial slurs while encouraging his entourage to join in. United Nations calls on Bangladesh to disclose details about crackdown on protests
- Advertisement -UNITED NATIONS, Jul 25 (APP): The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, Thursday called on Bangladesh to urgently disclose the details of last week’s crackdown on protests amid accounts of “horrific violence”, calling for “an impartial, independent and transparent investigation”. As demonstrations continued, there were eruptions of violence which led to deaths and the closure of public and private universities. Two journalists reportedly were killed, and many others injured, while hundreds of people were arrested amidst the protests. Prompt, thorough, independent and impartial investigations in line with internationally recognized standards must be carried out into all human rights violations, they added. To regain public trust, the Government needs to take responsibility and ensure a credible process of investigation and accountability to hold perpetrators to account, they said.
