Williams who disclosed this in a statement in Jalingo explained that the alert became necessary following the wide circulation of the fake account with the name of Corps Marshal Dauda Biu. According to her, the fake Linkedin account has WhatsApp No, 07069777732, and was intended to defraud innocent members of the public with the guise of offering them employment. “I enjoined prospective applicants or members of the public in Taraba to be wary of such fake account and disregard it,” she alerted. She noted that FRSC was committed to guaranteeing Taraba people a safe motoring environment during and after Sallah periods.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has denied using stolen funds to purchase properties abroad. This follows a trending video on social media, which showed a property in the United States, alleged to be linked to the Minister. In response, Keyamo confirmed that the property was his, but stated that he had purchased it using proceeds from his legal practice. In a statement on Twitter, Keyamo noted that he had posted the video of him exercising in front of the US property to bait those he called “sore losers” at the last elections. The Minister’s statement added that the foreign funds were lying in his accounts before he became a Minister in 2019, and he later used them to purchase the property.

The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the 40 per cent pay rise arrears for civil servants, Saturday PUNCH has reliably learnt. Our correspondent who spoke to some federal civil servants on Saturday learnt that workers started receiving bank alerts of the arrears on Saturday, April 22, 2023. A high-ranking civil servant who spoke to our correspondent anonymously in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, noted that the arrears came in alongside the April 2023 salary. Earlier in March, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, disclosed that the Federal Government had approved a pay raise for civil servants in the country. A truck driver died on the spot, and others were injured after a car’s tyre blew out and hit a fuel tanker, causing it to roll over and catch fire on the Gold Star Bridge in Groton, Connecticut, USA. A big explosion shut down a section of Interstate 95 on Friday when a petroleum tanker collapsed on a key bridge in Connecticut, sending a column of smoke and flames into the air and killing one person, according to state officials. According to Connecticut State Police spokesperson Sergeant Christine Jeltema, the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 “will be closed for quite some time” as officials decide if the Gold Star Memorial Bridge is safe to traverse. He stated that it was unclear how much fuel was in the truck at the time of the incident but that its maximum capacity was 2,800 gallons. The bridge, which connects the coastal cities of Groton and New London, is an important transportation link in eastern Connecticut at the state’s border with Rhode Island.

A charity organization, Tilova for Africa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with the National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) to cooperate on the advancement and protection of human rights. The synergy is expected to create more awareness and further sensitize the public on how to apply their human rights in daily situations in a dignified and non-violent manner. It is equally aimed to provide support in areas bordering around guaranteeing the human rights of Nigerians through poverty allegations, educational scholarships and the fight against discrimination and persecution of minority groups such as HIV/AIDS patients and the ostracized due to the Osu Caste system. While the Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission, Mr Tony Ojukwu, signed on behalf of the Commission, founder of Tilova for Africa, Dr Martins Nwabueze signed on behalf of the group. Specifically, he said the Osu caste system, a traditional practice in Igboland, Southern Nigeria discourages social interaction as marriage with a caste of persons (Osu) are considered as inferior beings compared to their real born (Diala) Counterparts.

The Lagos State Government has inaugurated a 7-man technical committee to probe the recent collapse of a building under construction in Banana Island. The inauguration was conducted by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tayo Bamgbose-Martins in Ikeja on Thursday. The committee is also expected to make recommendations on the remaining three structures under construction within the same vicinity and proffer solutions to building collapse in the state. Other members of the Committee are Ayo Adediran, a reputable town planning consultant; Aileme Unuigbe, a structural engineer; Arc. Bamgbose-Martins said members of the technical committee were appointed for their good reputations and urged them to provide insights into how such ugly occurrence could be prevented in the state by unravelling the cause of the Banana Island building collapse.
