Photo: Sandy EgglestonThe state of Gore District shingle roads have deteriorated to the point of being "dangerous", Waikaka Valley resident Peter McIntyre says. A lack of maintenance was the major cause of the problem, as the roads had not been graded since April, Mr McIntyre said. Potholes made driving difficult and drivers often had to cross on to the wrong side of the road to avoid them. A truck driver who made a delivery to her farm had trouble driving through a soft spot on the road. Gore District Council road asset manager Murray Hasler said several gravel roads in the district were in poor condition and he appreciated people’s frustrations.

Meanwhile, the widely-watched ISM factory PMI 'improved' slightly, meaning it contracted less. In China, the Caixin factory PMI surprised with a small expansion when a small contraction was anticipated. Given the official factory PMI out earlier showed a contraction, this is a double surprise. A week ago these prices were US$80/bbl and US$84.50/bbl respectively. A week ago it was at 68.4.

Because I cannot believe how bad National’s tax cut policy release has been researched and structured and how bad its release is going. When you add Australia (19 percent) and Singapore (3.5 percent), this means at least 60 percent of non-New Zealand house transfers would be excluded from National’s tax,” Parker said. “This means Chinese nationals must be excluded from National’s proposed tax, in addition to the exclusions for Australia and Singapore that they have already admitted”. Labour social development spokesperson Carmel Sepuloni told Stuff National’s proposal would see “thousands” of children sink below the poverty line. National’s policy would be worth about $8,000 a year to me using figures off the top of my head.

For a long time National has been promising income tax cuts funded by cuts to wasteful spending. Basically National is promising $14.6 billion of tax cuts over 5 years. “The TAB has been producing figures to demonstrate why there needs to be regulation of online gambling, Lotto have done the same. But the income from their proposed taxes appear to be based on herculean assumptions and the climate measures would undermine the slow but steady progress we have made as a country to meet our climate goals.

Ummmmm…Seymour says ACT MP no longer believes climate change a hoaxACT leader David Seymour is adamant one of his senior MPs no longer believes climate change is a hoax or that people who think the planet is warming are “nut jobs”. Seymour insists Mark Cameron does not believe many of the things he used to regularly tweet about, shortly before entering Parliament. Seymour wasn’t keen to talk about Cameron’s controversial Twitter takes from shortly before he joined ACT, like that climate change is a farce, and that only nut jobs believe the planet is warming. ACT are going to allow that machine gun used by the white supremacist terrorist to be back in NZ???????????????????????? So we have spite policy from ACT and a Tax cut for Landlords funded by taking from 2 year olds, Public transport and Climate Change funds?

Photo: Kevin Stent / StuffThe plug has been pulled on a $500 million development at the former Air Force base at Shelly Bay in Wellington. "Suffice to say we are looking forward to restoring the natural beauty of the bay." "Our immediate goal is to start the landscaping and replanting work required to return Shelly Bay to its natural state. "Whilst the project's cancellation brings about a shift in plans, it opens the door to opportunities for Shelly Bay that will hold different kinds of value for the community and future generations. "I know that they have a passion for nature like many Wellingtonians, and I feel like the community around Shelly Bay will be pretty happy with that outcome also."

It was never going to be easy for Labour to live up to the hopes and encouragement of the voters in 2020. When things start going badly, however, or when – God rot them! They’re the people who, when the kids of the working-class start breaking bad, defend them in court, write reports about them, give them counselling, and mange them when they’re released from prison. Labour’s problem, however, is that it has given far too many New Zealanders far too many good reasons for wanting to punish it. Not when your party has ended up giving the New Zealand electorate so little to defend, and so much to punish.

For one New Zealand man the intrusive thoughts might be sticking around for a bit longer after he seemingly discovered a tapeworm in his burger purchased from fast-food outlet, Chicking. In a video posted to his TikTok account, @kingkoda888 (real name Daniel Bond) showed off a small, white worm-like creature wriggling around. According to Bond, he first thought it was mayo before quickly realising something was amiss when it started moving. Elsewhere, others are questioning the legitimacy of Bond’s claims with Kiwi news outlet Stuff.co.nz poking holes in his wormy tale. Well, Bond didn’t take too kindly to Stuff’s article and responded with another TikTok video fighting back against their claims.

That’s how many died from Covid and the population of each nation, compared to Ireland we are talking about 6000 lives difference. That’s the price we sacrificed to protect as many people as we could, to leave no one behind. There is every possibility those numbers spark the sense of an economic crisis with the stock market tanking and voter’s Kiwisavers getting smashed. Voters will ask themselves in that sense of crisis, ‘who will look after me, Labour or National/ACT’.
