Liberia: Ship Load Of Frozen Foods Awaits IPD At Freeport of Monrovia
Over the last few months, local and foreign owned businesses have complained over the refusal of the Ministry of Commerce to issue IPD for the importation of frozen foods. While the ship awaits at the port for the IPD is prepared, the importer is likely to incur more demurrages. Demurrage refers to the charges that the charterer pays to the ship owner for its delayed operations of loading/unloading. The goal of the President was exempt all commercial importers of goods into Liberia from seeking Import Permit Declaration (IPD). The Executive Order stated, “All Commercial Importers of goods into Liberia are exempted from seeking Import Permits and filling Import Permit Declarations.

GANTA, Nimba County – A 40-year-old man has died while in the custody of the Ganta Police Detachment barely three days after his arrest. Fasu Kollie, relative of the deceased, said they found out by text message Sunday from their neighbor that their brother had died in police custody. A distraught Kollie said the family doesn’t understand how their relative died in police custody. Kolleh’s death brings to three the number of suspects who have died in the Ganta Police custody in less than two years.

Ivorian Government Releases 14 Liberians Following Alleged Attack on Military Base that Left Three Liberians Dead
Monrovia – The Government of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire has released 14 Liberians, who were arrested and detained following the attack on the Abobo Military Base on the night of April 20-21, 2021. F. Musa Dean and Gen. Daniel Ziakahn, Minister of National Defense among others to Cote D’Ivoire on a facts finding mission. For his part, Minister Kemayah said the Ivorian Minister of Defense explained to them that the arrest of some Liberians was not a witch hunts or pursuing the Liberians, who are living peacefully in Cote d’Ivoire, reiterating that Liberians will continue to live in Cote d’Ivoire without any molestation. “Liberia is working towards strengthening relations between the two countries; Liberians living in Côte d’Ivoire must be peaceful and don’t come in conflict with the Ivoirian law. Minister Kemayah told the Ivorian officials, that President George Weah was a symbol of global peace, even before he became Head of State; he has always been for peace.

Liberia: Why The World Food Programme Is Not Void Of Blame Amid Lapses In Liberia Covid-19 Stimulus Saga
Just when the virus was at its peak, the Government of Liberia and partners launched a US$25M Covid-19 Household Food Distribution Stimulus Package for vulnerable households in Liberia. The aim of the COHFSP was to assisting the most vulnerable households affected by COVID-19 prevention measures in Liberia. The WFP for example, says on its website that it has, along with partners, provided 3,084 mt of staple food commodities to 243,140 beneficiaries (48,628 households) under the Government-led COVID-19 Household Food Support Programme (COHFSP). The WFP noted: “These include allocations toward the support costs of the Liberia Country Office directly linked to the execution of the programme (e.g. applicable rental costs, back office staff costs etc) and allocations toward the support costs of WFP Headquarters/Regional Bureau in their oversight and support function, called Indirect Support Costs (ISC),” WFP continues.

Liberia: Court Documents Obtained Shows Ignored Legal Flaws in Nimba Land Dispute
MONROVIA — The Donzos, Jabateh and Kromah families along with all other Mandingoes live on their respective properties before the establishment of Nimba as a County in 1964. The Lawyers were giving the opportunity to review the file and thereafter established several legal frauds leading to the default judgment. Even a pleading of a lawyer whose license has expired has been declared by this court to be of no legal effect. The court also stated that there can be no judgment for or against a party not under the jurisdiction of the court. The default judgment in the case in question was against Dute Donzo, Ansumana Jabateh, Kailefala Donzo and Morlie Kromah all of whom died nearly three decades ago.

MONROVIA — Brewerville City, one of the oldest cities in Montserrado, County, Liberia, has been given a facelift, amid the growing of grass and stockpile of garbage in several communities in the city. This followed the official launch of a major clean up and sanitation campaign on Saturday, May, 2021 by the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema –Liberia, a branch of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema in collaboration with the Brewerville City Corporation under the theme: “ Caring for Our Environment”. Prior to the official launch of the initiative, the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema –Liberia donated several wheelbarrows, brooms, rakes and other sanitation materials to the Brewerville City Corporation via its Mayor S.
