He stated in his address, “Job creation remains a top priority for my Administration. Our job creation strategy has focused on addressing binding and structural constraints to growth, including investments in roads, energy, and other infrastructure. In his words, “We acknowledge, with honesty and humility, that job creation remains one of our greatest national challenges. Vice President Koung, who also serves as President of the Liberian Senate, sought to contextualize the government’s struggle by outlining broader policy efforts aimed at long-term economic transformation. Paynesville – The Paynesville Magisterial Court has dismissed a criminal lawsuit involving Mustapha Raji, President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), and Jubilee FC President James Nimene, citing a lack of sufficient evidence to proceed. In a statement issued Tuesday, the LFA welcomed the ruling, noting that it respects the integrity of the legal process. “The outcome reflects the conclusion reached by the court after due consideration of the facts presented,” the LFA stated in an official release. The LFA clarified that President Raji remained fully compliant with all legal requirements and was represented by competent counsel. Despite the legal distractions and the lingering dispute with Jubilee FC, the Association emphasized that its leadership remains focused on its mandate of developing football across Liberia.

“The Middle East is not a distant theater of conflict,” Nyanti told the Council, chaired by Somalia’s Permanent Representative, Abukar Dahir Osman. Drawing on Liberia’s own post-conflict experience, Nyanti stressed that peace cannot be achieved by silencing guns alone, but through early, deliberate, and sustained political choices. On the Israel-Palestine conflict, Nyanti reaffirmed Liberia’s support for an immediate and sustained de-escalation of violence, expanded and predictable humanitarian access, and a negotiated two-state solution consistent with relevant UN Security Council resolutions. She emphasized that security without political legitimacy cannot endure and that crisis management cannot replace a genuine peace process. Liberia, she said, stands ready to work with all Security Council members and partners toward a Middle East defined not by perpetual war, but by dignity, justice, and the freedom for ordinary people to build peaceful lives.

In a detailed address released Monday, Moniba argued that while State of the Nation speeches often sound impressive, the true measure of government performance lies in the national budget. “The State of the Nation Address will always sound good, because it is someone grading themselves,” Moniba said. According to Moniba, many of the reported jobs were government-generated rather than driven by private sector growth, a trend he warned is unsustainable. A child who cannot learn cannot lead,” Moniba said, referencing Liberia’s nearly 30 percent stunting rate among children. “Liberia does not need better speeches; it needs a different budget philosophy,” he said, one that prioritizes productivity, private sector growth, and human capital over political perks.

“We welcome the Government’s admission that it erred on the road pavement ratio reported by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai in his 2026 SONA. But this is ‘thanks but no thanks’ since the ‘correction’ still has the same error and needs to be corrected,” Mr. Tweah wrote. President, are your people telling you that your Government added 11 percent to this 9 percent pavement number?” Mr. Tweah asked. However, Mr. Tweah maintains that the ministry’s press release failed to resolve the core issue. By Amos HarrisThe Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) has expressed qualified support for President Joseph N. Boakai’s anti-corruption agenda, noting that while several policy commitments are promising, significant gaps remain in translating these intentions into tangible accountability. CENTAL Executive Director Anderson Miamen acknowledged specific improvements in financial oversight, particularly the work of the General Auditing Commission (GAC). The GAC successfully completed 94 out of 105 planned audits, including a high-stakes Domestic Debt Audit covering 2018 to 2023. CENTAL argued that after more than a year of operation, the task force should have produced more visible results, especially given the various audit reports and U.S. sanctions targeting former officials. The group further aimed at the Legislature’s Public Accounts Committees, accusing them of undermining the GAC’s credibility by delaying reviews of audit reports and failing to enforce accountability.
