Monrovia – Fresh crisis has hit Benoni Urey’s All Liberian Party (ALP) as nine of its county chairmen and one executive committee member Wednesday, January 5 tendered in their resignations, citing the mismanagement of the party within the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP). Cummings is in a head-to-head fight with former Vice President Joseph Boakai to head the alliance’s ticket to face off against President Weah. Cummings: “Baseless and unfounded charges”Responding to the charges brought against him by the ALP, Cummings termed same as being baseless and unfounded. “I believe Urey is perhaps being used by the government because a united opposition makes it more difficult for President Weah to replace himself,” he said. But there are other political parties and political actors, that are determined to build a coalition that likely would not include the ALP, to take on President Weah.

Even though the alleged sexual misconduct was said to have been committed by Wowoh, interestingly, it was him who had reported it to the LNP for investigation, according to the police. Wowoh is the founder/executive director of the Change Agent Network/Opportunity Network Liberia (CAN/ONLIB), which runs Triple ‘A’— Alexander A. Andrews — one of the academic institutions of CAN/ONLIB. The police also found out during their investigation that Ms. Dunbar and the Triple A Principle, Abel Dennis, has had sexual intercourse one time when she was in the 11th grade. Monrovia – The President of Liberia’s newest sports federation, the TEQBALL Federation, has underscored the need for greater engagements in 2022, thereby, describing the federation’s achievements in 2021 as a giant step towards expanding the brand of TEQBALL across Liberia. President Shannon also praised the international parent body of teqball. LNTF was accredited by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) and the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) to operate as a fully recognized sport body in Liberia. In the same direction, President Shannon pointed to the successful accomplishment of LNTF’s first technical workshop. At the same time, President Shannon encouraged clubs and recipients of teqball tables to take seriously the donation by beginning to incorporate teqball in its weekly activities.

Monrovia – Moses R. Quollin, the National Coordinator of the Liberia Forest Media Watch (LFMW) is calling stakeholders in the forest sector to find a way to alleviate some of the menaces that are hampering the growth and development of the sector. Giving LFMW’s progress report at the 2nd Meeting with editors and senior reporters the National Coordinator of the group outlined the many challenges faced by the forest sector. He added that there are 44 approved Community Forest Management Agreements (CFMA), covering 941,560 hectares. “Community forest management structures are weak and mismanagement of funds is often a problem. They are Sustainable Development Institute (SDI), Foundation for Community Initiative (FCI), Civil Society Independent Forest Monitor (CS-IFM), National Union of Community Forestry Development Committee (NUCFDC), National Union of Community Forest Management Body (NUCFMB) and Liberia Forest Media Watch (LFMW).

YEKEPA, Nimba ̶ It was a joyous entry into the New Year 2022 for residents of Yekepa as ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) and local authorities officially commissioned recently installed solar streetlights in the Township. Working through an independent contractor, ArcelorMittal Liberia has been installing one hundred and fifty solar streetlights across the Township of Yekepa as part of ongoing efforts to improve the outlook of the area. Representative Somwarbi encouraged the community residents to ensure that the newly installed solar streetlights are well taken care of. Many residents of Yekepa have been speaking about the impact of the installation of the solar streetlights and the sense of security that it is creating. The installation of solar streetlights in Yekepa is one of several ongoing social and community development projects by ArcelorMittal Liberia.

The Monrovia City Court has ordered the arrest of Alexander Cummings, standard bearer of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), based on a complaint filed by the All Liberian Party (ALP). The ALP, which is wholly owned by businessman Benoni Urey, is suing his opposition compatriot for forgery and criminal conspiracy for alleged framework tampering. The writ of arrest, issued by Stipendiary Magistrate Jomah S. Jallah of the Monrovia City Court, comes just days after the ALP, via its National Executive Committee, voted to withdraw from the CPP. THIS SHALL CONSTITUTE YOUR LEGAL AND SUFFICIENT AUTHORITY AND HAVE YOU HAVE THERE THIS WRIT OF ARREST. It is worth noting that gains made by the CPP during the 2020 Senatorial election were achieved with Mr. Cummings at the helm of the CPP.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Liberian Party- ALP has mandated its National Chairman and Political Leader to effect an immediate withdrawal of the party from the Collaborating Political Parties - CPP. At the end of a long period of intense deliberation concerning the original purpose, intent , political interest and viability of the ALP's participation in the CPP, the EC , in its December 23, 2021 extra- ordinary sitting, voted in majority to pull out of the CPP. Additionally, the EC also decided that the ALP will seek legal action for the unlawful attachment of it's leaders' signatures to a filed ( with National Elections Commission ) July 14, 2020 photocopy version of what was purported to be an approved (by all parties of the CPP) Framework Agreement of the CPP. As per the process of pulling out of the CPP, the EC of the ALP cautioned the leadership of the party to exhaust all legal procedures in a timely manner as it effectuates the withdrawal process. US-based Liberian Infectious Diseases Expert, Dr. Dougbeh Christopher Nyan has told a community COVID-19 vaccination promotion event that, “clinical scientific evidence have demonstrated that you can now take mix and match COVID-19 vaccines. "If you took Pfizer-BioNTech, you can take Moderna as your booster; if you took Moderna, you can take Pfizer-BioNTech as your booster; if you took AstraZeneca [in Liberia and other African countries and elsewhere], you can take either Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Johnson-n-Johnson as your booster," says Dr. Nyan. Dr. Nyan made the statement in response to questions about booster vaccinations for those who took AstraZeneca in Liberia and other African countries where booster may not be available or are traveling to areas like the US where AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine [booster] is neither approved nor available. While Africa remains largely unaffected, COVID-19 infection in Europe and the United States has spiked again. Monrovia – Some people with special needs or Disadvantaged, have stressed the need of getting empowerment skills as a mean of giving long term livelihood, instead of just getting handouts as goodwill gesture, occasionally. Their statement was made in separate remarks during the weekend, as they received Christmas package from the Sam-Enable Foundation. However, the Bicentennial celebration is designed to show case the historical and cultural experiences of only the African group that came from the United States beginning in 1821. While it is good to celebrate but given the history of antagonism between the Indigenous Africans and the repatriated Africans from the U.S., care has to be taken that such celebration of the repatriated Africans does not contribute to further inflaming the antagonistic relationship between the two groups. Beginning in 1821, a small group of African Americans called settlers arrived at a location that later became known as Cape Montserrado. Each of these groups occupied its own territories. How do we locate the other African groups within the Bicentennial celebration?
