In April, the World Health Organization also found tainted syrup in the Pacific island nations of Marshall Islands and Micronesia produced by an Indian drugmaker. "An investigation conducted by the World Health Organization revealed that the Para Clear medical product poses serious threats to the lives of children, similar to the Gambian scenario," she said. A third-party testing of products must be conducted in World Health Organization (WHO) prequalified or ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories.

Monrovia – The Standard Bearer of the Liberia People Party, Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe, has denied media reports suggesting that his party is engaged in merger talks with the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP). During the meeting, it was reported that the CPP was in the process of finalizing an agreement with the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) to establish a merger. It was also intended to foster collaboration during a potential run-off presidential election. A former Chief Justice of Liberia, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, has filed a writ of habeas corpus at the Criminal Court C after being accused by the Liberia National Police of ‘murdering’ her niece, Charloe Musu, whose death was reported as an armed robbery attack. The reported charges against the former Chief Justice are grave with murder being a non-billable offense. They are Rebecca Wisner, Scott's aunt, Gertrude Newton, and Alice Johnson — all of whom were at home with the former Chief Justice when Charloe was killed. Meanwhile, Nyowo Scott, the son of the former Chief Justice, has questioned the police decision to charge his mother with murder.

The Senators are divided on whether to outrightly reject or hold confirmation proceedings for nominees to the Liberian Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC). “We cannot simply do anything the President wants because we are the same Senate that confirmed the current commissioners in the tenure they currently occupy. Monrovia – Justice Minister Cllr. Frank Musah Dean and Information Minister Ledgerhood J. Ronnie have pleaded with the Supreme Court for mercy, following their appearance on Tuesday, June 20, to answer to a contempt charge before the Court. Both Minister Dean and Minister Rennie were fined US$500 each last week for their failure to comply with the summon issued by the Full Bench of the Supreme Court. The fine was imposed due to Justice Minister Frank Musah Dean and Information Minister Ledgerhood J. Rennie’s non-compliance with the summon. Bull, Minister Dean had served as Dean of the Supreme Court for six years and had contributed to the court’s efforts to rebrand the judiciary.

Sierra Leone’s Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) and the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC), held a joint peace meeting in Freetown on Monday to address complaints by the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) against the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) and security forces, ahead of the 24th of June presidential and parliamentary elections. He disclosed that the Commission received on Monday, ballot papers for the elections after a delay of the cargo flight from South Africa. After a closed-door session, Rev Johnson announced that a smaller group of representatives of the four bodies should continue the peace meeting on Tuesday. Meanwhile, ECOWAS Long-Term Observers were deployed to Sierra Leone’s 16 districts on Monday with those in urban Freetown attending a Police-Media Dialogue on Elections organized by the Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG). At a separate meeting, the ECOWAS Observers were briefed by officials of the MRCG, Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and the Independent Media Commission (IMC) on Sierra Leone’s media landscape, ownership, regulation, status of media freedom, the impact of social media and cybercrimes, and the role of the media in national elections.
