Students at University College Dublin (UCD) have set up an encampment in Belfield in solidarity with Palestine. The camp was established on Saturday evening at the main lake at the south Dublin campus by UCD Students’ Union (UCDSU) and the college’s Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) group. UCD students in April protested against the visit of Nancy Pelosi, former speaker of the US House of Representatives, to campus to receive an honorary degree. UCD students’ union president Martha Ní Riada was removed from the conferring ceremony by security staff as she called Pelosi “a Zionist and war criminal”. Come join the encampment, as students and staff @ucddublin we're calling on our University to cut ties with Israeli institutions.

An ageing population and a hip and knee replacement company ought to be a match made in heaven. The shares are down 38 per cent over the past five years and nearly 6 per cent since the beginning of 2024. Seb Jantet, healthcare analyst at Liberum, says the US is still battling with supply issues for hips and knees, but there is potential for upside if the business resolves this. 'Smith & Nephew is reaping the benefits from portfolio shifting toward faster-growth segments and recent R&D efforts, which support higher, sustainable growth,' he says. S&N is far from perfect – but, overlooking the issues, the company is cheap and worth buying for short-term upside.

Michael Olise on target as Palace continue strong form with win at WolvesBy Phil Medlicott, PAMichael Olise delivered another impressive display as Crystal Palace registered their fifth win in six Premier League games by beating Wolves 3-1 at Molineux. Wolves, having hit the bar via a Matt Doherty header, pulled a goal back midway through the second half when Matheus Cunha fired in. Olise now has 10 league goals for the season and Mateta 13 – 10 of which have come in the 12 games Palace have had so far with Glasner in charge. The defender cracked a shot against the post and Mateta was on hand to finish from close range on the follow-up. Wolves were back in the game – but Palace soon restored a two-goal lead, with Olise inevitably involved, playing a through-ball that Eze took around Bentley and slotted in.

Sean Longstaff nets Newcastle equaliser against BrightonBy Damian Spellman, PASean Longstaff’s eighth goal of the season ensured Newcastle’s home campaign did not end in defeat as Brighton emerged from the long trip north with a point. The midfielder cancelled out Joel Veltman’s opener in first-half stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw which dented the Magpies’ hopes of reeling in fifth-placed Tottenham during what remains of the Premier League campaign. It was from one of them that they took an 18th-minute lead when Gross’ delivery was helped on by Danny Welbeck and Veltman stabbed home from close range at the far post. Newcastle were struggling to play through a well-organised Seagulls side with Gilmour and Gross working hard in front of the back four to limit time and space and effectively disarm in-form striker Alexander Isak. Verbruggen somehow parried Burn’s point-blank header from a 34th-minute Anthony Gordon corner, but opposite number Martin Dubravka was relieved to see Welbeck only just fail to collect Enciso’s intelligent through-ball.
