America’s economy is holding up well despite surging oil prices - for now - but alarm bells are ringing on Wall Street. The Wall Street Journal polled economists to see how high oil prices would have to rise - and how long they'd have to stay elevated - to push the US economy towards recession. They said that oil would have to stay around $138 a barrel for about three months to push the US economy towards a recession. So far, the Iran war has lasted almost three weeks and US oil prices have been hovering around $95 - compared to an average price of $65 in February. Join the debate How should the US handle soaring oil prices if conflict in the Middle East threatens our economy?

But Sporting KC did not make many splashes in the offseason to fill the roster’s needs. Sporting KC still needs a lot to fill their roster to MLS quality. The Rapids win this game 3-1.

It is a pity that the photo doesn’t show the critical feature - the stem/stipe - which is blackish in this species. Normally it grows on dead wood, but it has also been recorded on living trees, which were most likely moribund.

Asked by a Japanese journalist why the US had not given its allies forewarning of its attack on Iran, Trump retorted:“Who knows better about surprise than Japan? During his meeting with Martin, Trump spent most of his time complaining and criticising European leaders in particular for not being willing to send their fleets to the Strait of Hormuz. There is a sentimental view of Ireland in the US that goes beyond party politics, and beyond politics. If you look at the people Trump has clashed with in the White House, they tend to be leaders he dislikes or countries he dislikes. And finally ...Pat has surpassed himself with another must-read piece on the Taoiseach’s visit to Washington that was published today.

However, an older mating partner will have ‘good’ genes which helped him, or her, survive and prosper. The humpback whale’s breaching display is one the great sights of the natural world and its mysterious half-hour-long song has few equals in the animal kingdom. During the era of industrial whaling, however, humpbacks, like all the great whales, were hunted mercilessly for their oil. The composition of a whale’s skin changes with age, so chemical analysis of a skin sample enables a whale’s age to be determined. The mating of humpbacks has never been observed, but males can be seen escorting and guarding females.

And on Tuesday evening in the big house on Pennsylvania Avenue, it was Micheal’s turn again. Photograph: Niall Carson/PAFormer taoiseach Enda Kenny, no stranger to the White House, looks like a man who is enjoying his retirement. This year, mercifully, the White House was a Conor McGregor-free zone. We’re told he looked absolutely thrilled with himself at the shamrock ceremony in the White House. “A productive and focused St Patrick’s Week in Washington, DC,” he posted on his return to the real capital.

The EU–Mercosur agreement will create one of the world’s largest free-trade zones, gradually removing tariffs on key commodities such as beef, poultry, pork, sugar, and ethanol traded between the EU and the Mercosur bloc. The quota has been closely watched by European beef producers, including farmers in Ireland who fear increased South American imports could intensify competition in the EU market. However, he said that growth in Argentina’s beef sector “will not necessarily come from increasing herd numbers but from improving production efficiency — particularly through heavier slaughter weights”. That’s not how the world sees it.”Pork industry inspiresArgentina's pork industry has already undergone rapid transformation over the past two decades, with consumption rising steadily and production becoming increasingly concentrated among technologically advanced farms. It has become a sector many beef producers now look to for inspiration.

Arne Slot has confirmed Alexander Isak will be available for Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain as he nears recovery from a fractured leg. Isak will clearly not be ready to start after almost four months out but will offer Slot an option from the bench. “He will be available,” said Slot, who will be without Mohamed Salah and Alisson for Saturday’s early kick-off at Brighton due to muscle injuries. “Exactly what I get from that I cannot tell you because he hasn’t trained with the team even once. But the burden cannot keep falling on players and clubs to respond after the damage has already been done.

A non-Kerry Munster semi-final until 2029 at leastPromotion is more consequential for Cork than any other team in the league’s second tier. Their hairiest moment came in 2022 when they claimed the last qualifying place after finishing sixth in Division 2. In 2006 and ’07, Cork and Kerry were Division 1 teams. In Cork’s last three years in Division 1 (2014-16), their share was €205,906, an average of €68,635 per season. so whatever division Cork find themselves in next season they will have four home fixtures having had three this time around.

A racing tipster from Cork has been ordered by the High Court to immediately remove an allegedly defamatory article he posted on the Substack online platform about a businessman involved in the same industry. The case first came before the court on Wednesday when the judge granted short service of the proceedings on Mr Norris. He also ordered that Mr Norris be restrained from publishing any further material which repeats the allegation of a threat to put a bullet in his head. He said he expected Mr Norris to be in court next Friday when the case is due back. This was completely false and deeply damaging to him personally and professionally, Mr Heneghan said.
