The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have provoked 'outrage' after it was revealed they made £130,000 per year sub-letting stables on their £30million estate. Prince Edward and Sophie had advertised the East Wing stables at Bagshot Park, in Surrey, as an office space for £10,834 per month, pocketing £130,008 per year. The Scandi cities of Copenhagen and Malmö have both been on my list for a while so I decide adapt the EDT blueprint slightly and make it an 'extreme weekend' instead. Day one of the bumper weekend trip began in Copenhagen. Within an hour, I cover much of the city centre and harbour, and it's easy to see why it's such a popular day trip from Copenhagen. For lunch, I head to Malmö Saluhall, a bustling food hall split between regional Skåne produce and global street food - from spicy ramen to freshly made falafel. If you have 72 hours to spare, I'd recommend a slow-paced, two-country trip to Denmark and Sweden in a heartbeat.

Speaking in Belfast on Friday, Gerry Adams said he was pleased the case against him had been withdrawn and described proceedings as verging on a 'show trial'. During a London civil case seeking £1 in vindicatory damages, lawyers for the men argued Adams was a senior IRA figure, despite decades of denials. Adams said throughout that he had never been an IRA member and had nothing to do with the three bombings. The case on Friday came to a sudden and surprising end after Anne Studd, barrister for the claimants, sought a 90-minute adjournment until noon. The fair trial we sought – getting Mr Adams into the dock for the first time – was achieved.

However, it seems not every corner of Britain is quite so beautiful – as a survey has revealed the least scenic locations. This revealed that urban areas score significantly lower than rural ones, with the average scenicness of an English urban area coming in at just 2.43 out of 10. This likely explains why the UK's most scenic locations are all rural areas with little sign of human activity. Previous studies have shown that spending time in scenic areas can have remarkable impacts on people's mental and physical well–being. 'For urban areas, our results suggest that preserving historic buildings is a good place to start!'

'Ageist' nursery rhymes should be confined to history lessons, according to one expert, because they spread negative views of old people. Meanwhile, they even go so far as to argue that 'The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe' demonstrates a 'callous approach to parenting'. Nursery rhymes are 'powerful cultural artefacts capable of moulding thought processes', the scientists said. In this rhyme, old age is 'insinuated as being a time of forgetfulness', because the character visits several shops but seemingly forgets to buy her dog food. Positive portrayals of getting old appeared in a third of the nursery rhymes, the team revealed.

'Genetics, diet, age and physical activity can all have an effect on cholesterol levels. 'The problem is that high cholesterol usually causes no symptoms – until it is too late.' However, experts say these risks are small compared with the benefits for people with raised cholesterol or increased cardiovascular risk.
Your browser does not support iframes.
Diet can still play an important role in lowering cholesterol levels.
