If Palmer and French – two campaigning Scottish teachers – are correct, then it’s the modern world that’s done the damage. They lead the Upstart campaign, which wants an end to formal education until the age of seven. Upstart just wants to bring Scotland into line with most of the rest of the world, where kids begin formal education slightly later. Some can read fully before age seven when they enter formal education, some can’t. Letting children play “shops”, for instance, could allow teachers to impart valuable lessons about business and managing money.

The general election race has closed just five days out from polling, as Fine Gael's support drops in a new poll. The Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll shows that Fine Gael is down four points to 22% of support, with Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil on 20% each. Perhaps worryingly for Fine Gael, the poll was carried out on Thursday and Friday, before a video of an interaction between Taoiseach Simon Harris and a Cork carer in a Kanturk supermarket was widely shared. He said he has apologised to Ms Fallon. The poll shows that Independents and others are up three points to 19%, while Aontú is up two points to 5%.

Purity is a small business that specializes in tech products and accessories. Promising review: "I've tried soooo many different types of ear buds over the years with no success. But these Purity open air headphones are the first pair I've ever tried that actually fit well, don't hurt, and sound great! They are comfortable, lightweight, have great sound clarity, are easy to operate, have great battery life, and people can hear me clearly when I talk on the phone with them. I definitely recommend these, especially if regular in-ear buds don't work for you either."

It was a sweet November for the Springboks who completed their unbeaten run in the UK with a resounding 45-12 victory over Wales in Cardiff on Saturday. Against an inexperienced Wales team victory was largely expected for the Rugby World Cup and Rugby Championship holders who added the Prince William Cup to their bulging trophy cabinet. The win in Cardiff handed the Boks an 11th win in 13 Test matches this year. That they achieved an 84 win percentage in 2024 is all the more remarkable when you consider they used 52 players. “It was nice for the team to have achieved all of that,” said Erasmus.
