Storm disrupts travel and cuts power in UK, Ireland
The storm also hit Ireland, flooding roads in the west and cutting power to tens of thousands of customers. Snow covered roads and stranded cars in parts of the northern UK. Met Office Chief Meteorologist Jason Kelly termed the storm a "multi-hazard event," saying it was expected to bring snow, rain and wind to the UK for most of the weekend. In Ireland, the heavy rain led to flooding in parts of the west coast, making some roads impassable. Power company ESB Networks, which provides energy for the whole of Ireland, said high winds had led to power outages affecting 60,000 homes, farms and businesses overnight, mostly in the west and northwest.

Wolves felt revitalised after the break and it was Cunha again who was at the heart of play as he assisted the visitors’ second. After that warning shot, Silva turned to the bench in the form of Harry Wilson, who almost bailed the Cottagers out.

Ireland’s Justice Minister commends woman who won civil claim against McGregor
The total amount of damages awarded to Ms Hand by the jury was 248,603.60 euro (£206,714.31). Mr McGregor said in a post on social media on Friday that he intends to appeal the decision. Justice Minister Helen McEntee praised Ms Hand’s bravery and said she had shown “there is light at the end of the tunnel”. Ms Hand asked the DPP to review the decision, saying she felt she was being treated differently because one of the suspects was famous. “But… it is independent, and I really think it’s important that we respect that independence.”

Storm Bert: 11,000 homes without power as Met Éireann issues new weather warnings
ESB confirmed this evening that 49,000 homes, farms and businesses have been reconnected and those still without power are predominantly in counties Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and Galway. A Status Yellow weather warning for much of Ireland will resume right through the weekend as Met Éireann extended yellow warnings until 8am on Monday morning in some counties. The ESB reported that approximately 60,000 homes, farms and businesses lost power, with some 34,000 still to be reconnected by Saturday evening. A status yellow weather warning is still in effect for much of the country today and into Monday with the effects of Storm Bert still being felt despite the worst of the storm passing. Met Éireann officials had previously admitted they were concerned some areas could transition from snowfalls to torrential downpours, with the danger of severe local flooding.

Two men killed and three others injured after collision in Donegal
Kenneth FoxTwo men have died, and two other people are in a serious condition following a two-car collision in Co Donegal last night. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision near Castlefinn, Co Donegal just after 10pm last night. The two male passengers in their (30s) from one of the cars were fatally injured. A second woman (30s) was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The road remains closed this morning pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
