The legal obligation requires Royal Mail to deliver letters across the UK six days a week at a single price.

Met Office reveals storm names for 2024/25 - the full list
Along with Met Eireann in Ireland and KNMI, the Dutch weather service, meteorologists name storms so that the communication of severe weather is easier. This weekend, we have a newly christened storm arriving, Storm Bert. Beneficiaries of temporary protection to be relocated from County Roscommon property
Twenty six Ukrainians currently being accommodated in the former Cuisle Centre at Donamon are to be relocated, the Department of Integration has confirmed. The centre has been used as accommodation for people fleeing the war in Ukraine since March of 2022, following an extensive community effort to prepare the building. “The department is grateful that even though the licence agreement has expired, that the Divine Word Missionaries have kindly agreed that the department can have continued use of the Donamon property, under the terms of the expired licence, until March 2025,” the spokesperson said. “By suppling emergency accommodation at the Donamon property, the Divine Word Missionaries have provided valuable assistance to the state, and have been part of a nationwide response to the war in Ukraine, and the arrival of over 100,000 people fleeing the war in Ukraine in Ireland. The department is grateful for this assistance.”The department said it would now begin relocating the 26 BOTPS (beneficiaries of temporary protection) who are accommodated at the Donamon property, into alternative state funded accommodation, to ensure that they can return the property to the Divine Word Missionaries by March 2025, as per their agreement.

Counsel said Mr Brosnan “was well aware that he was seriously injured and announced to Mr Lisowski: ‘I’m dying’”. Mr Grehan suggested that it was Mr Lisowski and possibly Mr Brosnan who hit him on the ground in this instance, driving him into a rage, despite denials of this by Mr Lisowski.

Man was '3mm from death' following machete attack in Clare, court hears
Gordon DeeganA young man was “3mm from death” arising from an alleged ‘random’ broad daylight machete attack on a busy Ennis street on Wednesday afternoon, a court has heard. At Ennis District Court, Trevor Quinn (18) of Hermitage, Ennis appeared in court charged in connection with the alleged machete attack on Shane Tuohy at Ennis's Mill Rd at 3.30pm on Wednesday. After viewing photos of the alleged machete injuries to Mr Tuohy’s neck and ear, Judge Alec Gabbett said that Mr Tuohy was ‘3mm from death’. Garda White said that Mr Quinn has no previous convictions and has not been before the courts before. Judge Gabbett said that Mr Quinn “is just a hair’s breadth over 18 and he is charged with extraordinary serious offences”.

Man dies and woman injured in single-vehicle collision in Leitrim
Michael BoltonA man in his 20s has died following a single vehicle collision in Leitrim. The single-vehicle collision occurred on a local road between Kinlough and Garrison shortly before 7:00am on Thursday. One of the occupants of the vehicle, a male in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed to the morgue at Sligo University Hospital. The other occupant, a woman in her 40s, was transferred to Sligo University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Man jailed for sexually abusing a teenager over 30 years ago
Sonya McLean and Eimear DoddA man who engaged in “demeaning and humiliating behaviour” when he sexually abused a teenage girl over 30 years ago has been jailed. The now 68-year-old man sexually abused the victim as a child while she was minding his young son. On one occasion, he sexually abused her in his son’s bedroom, while on another occasion, he sexually abused her in a car that his wife was driving. Ms Justice O'Connor noted the offence of sexual assault of a child now carries a maximum penalty of 14 years. The woman said she was afraid to tell anyone because she was worried that she had done something to make the man abuse her.
