Unidentified gunmen killed nine Pakistani workers in a restive southeastern border area of Iran on Saturday, Pakistan’s ambassador and Iranian state media said, amid efforts by the two countries to mend ties after tit-for-tat attacks. “We called upon Iran to extend full cooperation in the matter.”Iranian state media said police were looking for the three gunmen who escaped after the shooting. State media said no individuals or groups had claimed responsibility for the shootings in Saravan in Sistan-Baluchestan province. “It is a horrifying and despicable incident and we condemn it unequivocally,” Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned the shootings.

CHENNAI : The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued draft guidelines for de-reserving vacancies meant for SC, ST and OBC candidates in higher education institutes (HEIs) and open them up for the general category if enough reserved candidates are not available. The guidelines for implementation of reservation policy in HEIs was released by the UGC on December 27 and the last date for providing public opinion ends on January 28. After approval, the post may be filled and quota may be carried forward, the draft said. It also permits de-reservation in promotions if sufficient numbers of SC/ST candidates fit for promotion against reserved vacancies are not available. The power to accord approval for the de-reservation of reserved vacancies in such cases is delegated to UGC/ministry of education.

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Saturday summoned former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her daughters, Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav while taking cognizance of the first chargesheet filed by the ED in a money-laundering case connecting the alleged railways land-for-jobs scam. Asking the accused to be present before the Rouse Avenue Court on February 9, Special Judge Vishal Gogne noted that “sufficient material” by the central investigating agency for issuing summons to the family members of RJD chief Lalu Prasad. Earlier, dealing with the case, the court had noted that the complaint was “accompanied by a voluminous record.”The case relates to alleged appointments made in the railways in return for land parcels gifted or sold to Lalu’s family when he was railway minister between 2004 and 2009. Earlier this month, a chargesheet was filed in the case, which had also named Hridyanand Chaudhary, a former railway employee, and Amit Katyal, the director of A K Infosystems who was arrested last November.

"With the likely re-entry of POEM-3 in the next 75 days, the PSLV-C58 XPoSat mission will be leaving zero debris in space", ISRO said. With the orbital decay and reentry of POEM-3 in three months, PSLV-C58 XPoSat mission will be leaving zero debris in space, ISRO added.

जागरण संवाददाता, केलंग। हिमाचल प्रदेश के राजस्व, उद्यान एवं जनजातीय विकास मंत्री जगत सिंह नेगी ने कहा कि केंद्र शासित प्रदेश लेह लद्दाख के साथ सीमा विवाद सुलझा लिया जाएगा। इसके लिए लेह लद्दाख प्रशासन के साथ जल्द बैठक की जाएगी। जगत सिह नेगी ने गणतंत्र दिवस समारोह में हिस्सा लेने के बाद शुक्रवार को लाहौल स्पीति के विधायक रवि ठाकुर के साथ शिंकुला का दौरा किया।लेह लद्दाख के लोग अब शिंकुला के इसपार जमाने लगे हकविधायक ने जगत सिंह नेगी को बताया कि पड़ोसी लेह लद्दाख ने हिमाचल के जनजातीय लाहौल-स्पीति जिले के शिंकुला में 35 किलोमीटर और सरचू में 14 किलोमीटर हिस्से में अतिक्रमण किया है। पहले सरचू में ही विवाद था, लेकिन अब शिंकुला के सड़क से जुड़ने के बाद पर्यटन गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा मिला है। पर्यटन कारोबार चलाने की मंशा से लेह लद्दाख के लोग अब शिंकुला के इस पार हिमाचल की भूमि पर अपना हक जमाने लगे हैं।विधायक रवि ठाकुर ने सितंबर 2023 को भी हिमाचल विधानसभा में प्रदेश व लेह-लद्दाख के सीमा विवाद का मामला उठाया था।
