I wish the team the best as they continue to transform experiences for customers, and I remain a strong supporter of the business.”He co-founded the e-commerce firm with Sachin Bansal in 2007. Last year, Bansal, who was holding about 1.75% stake in Flipkart, sold his stake to Walmart. In 2018, Walmart paid about $16 billion for a 77% stake in the ecommerce firm.

Five caste Hindus held for attack on VCK men in TN
THANJAVUR: Vallam police on Saturday arrested five caste Hindu men for allegedly attacking two vans ferrying VCK members, who were returning to their village after attending a party conference in Tiruchy on January 26. According to sources, the party workers were on their way to Orathanadu when five men on two bikes hurled stones at the vans near Vaharakkottai. The driver of one of the vans, identified as T Kirubakaran of Pattukkottai, sustained injuries. Further, M Chinnadurai, a party worker, was slapped by the accused, who also allegedly hurled casteist slurs.

Basmati rice exporters face freight costs soaring to USD 2,000 per 20-tonne container for destinations around the Red Sea, marking a 233 per cent increase, Srivastava added. The Red Sea route is shorter and faster, making it the preferred option for most shipping companies. It starts from major Indian ports like Mumbai, JNPT, or Chennai, heads westward through the Arabian Sea, enters the Red Sea, and navigates through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean Sea. On the other hand, the Cape of Good Hope route is longer and slower than the Suez Canal route, but it avoids the potential for delays or disruptions.

Momentous ruling: On Israel and the International Court of Justice order
The ICJ has directed Israel to take effective and immediate measures to ensure humanitarian assistance and basic services to Gaza. The order is a moral and legal indictment of Israel for bombing health facilities, designated safe areas, and densely populated areas. The order makes it difficult for Israel to choose a policy of deliberate non-compliance. The world should goad Israel into complying with the measures, while carrying out legitimate military operations. An unfortunate development, with a suspicious immediacy after the ICJ order, is the suspension of global aid to the UNRWA, based on an Israeli allegation that 12 staffers were involved in the October 7 attack.
