In under three months of filing for bankruptcy in the US, Ebix has reportedly initiated the sale of its Indian operations. The decision to divest EbixCash comes as there are limited or no prospects for listing the Indian operations. Sources also add that with the US unit swamped in bankruptcy, EbixCash has the risk of losing its remittance licences as well. Tough dealAccording to sources, three key players in the fintech and non-banking space had evinced interest in EbixCash. The hesitation around EbixCash is despite the company holding a leadership position in inward money remittance, travel and forex businesses.

FPIs inject over Rs 6,100 crore in equities in March on strong economic growth, market resilience
NEW DELHI: Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) are turning steady buyers as they bought Indian equities worth Rs 6,139 crore so far this month driven by strong economic growth, market resilience and decline in US bond yields. This came following a modest investment of Rs 1,539 crore in February and a massive outflow of Rs 25,743 crore in January, data with the depositories snowed. "FPI inflows have shown a positive trend as compared to the previous month. Thanks to the recent announcement of Q3 GDP numbers at 8.4 per cent, persistent performance of large Indian corporates being major factors for turning the tide green for the Indian equity market," Manoj Purohit, Partner and leader - FS Tax, Tax and Regulatory Services, BDO India, said. V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services, attributed this renewed interest in Indian equities to three reasons -- resilience of Indian markets, steady drop in the US bond yields (the 10-year yield has declined from above 4.3 per cent to 4.08 per cent now) and strong GDP growth.

Television shrinksEvery year the M&E Industry does a round of introspection. It had, as it does every year, an optimistic ring; but a careful read reveals how much the industry is struggling. The big slowdown in advertising in the first half of CY2023 took a toll, especially television, the largest of the entertainment segments. Ad revenue actually fell 6.5% due to a slowdown in spending by gaming and D2C brands. There was a marginal growth in subscription, but overall television revenues were down 2% to Rs 69,600 crore in 2023 from Rs 70,900 crore in the previous year.
