A 24-year-old National Service Personnel (NSS), Bismark Ansu, has been remanded by the Bibiani Circuit Court for three weeks for allegedly defiling three pupils in the Sehwi Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region. Bismark Ansu, who served as a Class 2 teacher to the victims, reportedly organized extra classes at his residence without the knowledge of the school authorities under the pretext of completing the academic syllabus for the year according to a 3news.com report. The report added that Ansu enticed three of the said students, aged between eight and nine years old, into engaging them in sexual intercourse. However, several weeks later, the parents noticed abnormal blood discharges from their daughters' genitalia, prompting them to question the children and the victims bravely disclosed the harrowing experiences they had endured. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is confident its May 13, 2023, presidential and parliamentary primaries will hold despite a court injunction filed by a flagbearer hopeful. “We want to urge party members and the people of Ghana to remain calm as the Party, through its legal team, works to resolve the temporary challenge,” the statement said. “The party is therefore confident that, this temporary challenge will be quickly overcome to pave way for the holding of the primaries on schedule,” the statement added. The three men had formed a robbery syndicate that targeted innocent citizens, as well as other persons who visit various financial institutions to transact withdrawal transfer services, especially those who withdraw bulk cash. They are reported, by The Chronicle newspaper, to have undertaken their nefarious activities at Ashaley-Botwe School Junction and Dansoman, all suburbs of Accra. Former President John Mahama has said he will fix the free senior high school (SHS) programme if he wins the 2024 presidential election. Speaking at a campaign tour in Kongo in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, Mr Mahama who is seeking a comeback, said the current form of the free SHS programme is appalling and counterproductive.
