"In Africa, the road with the deadliest reputation is the Accra to Cape Coast Road in Ghana, which connects Accra to Cape Coast. In early 2018, the National Road Safety Commission, NRSC, disclosed that 60% of all accidents in 2017 occured on that road. Ms Affotey-Annang, the then Acting Regional Manager for the Commission told journalists that road accidents increased from 788 in 2016 to 978 in 2017; which represented an increase of 23.7 per cent. Records indicate that a third of Cameroon's 3,000 annual accidents are recorded on the road.

During a meeting in Parliament with a cross-section of Christian leaders, Bagbin warned that whiles the house will not threaten anyone for their beliefs, it will also not sit by to be threatened. “We cannot be threatened in our homes, this must be stated loud and clear to those who have come to do business in Ghana. We also have the decision of the European Court on Human Rights to guide us in whatever we do…and so on the issue of LGBTQI+ definitely we already have a legal framework within which to work. We will not legislate to infringe on the Human Rights of people, but we will legislate to ensure that culture and traditions are not violated. The 36-page draft document is a Private Member's Bill titled: "The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values, Bill 2021."

Prof Kwesi Aning of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center, KAIPTC, last Thursday, (July 22) explained on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana program, how the new police chief can succeed in his role. Aning specifically cited the importance that two fellow Commissioners of Police will play if Dampare is to thrive and make a mark as Inspector General of Police. “Dampare’s strength is his strategic vision and his empathy for his personnel but also a willingness when the operational plans have been drawn up and that is why getting Yohunu and Kofi Boakye on his side are key,” Aning submitted. COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu is currently the Director General in charge of Special Duties, whiles Nathan Kofi Boakye is DG in charge of Legal and Prosecution. Incoming IGP George Akuffo Dampare was DG in charge of Administration at the time he was announced as Acting IGP.

He adds that the views of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin who has openly expressed support for the bill does not reflect the view of the house despite being a popular sentiment in society. Asked about Bagbin’s open support for the bill, he responded: “I think that we must understand that the speaker is a man of his own. I believe what the speaker said are his personal views and how he feels about this piece of legislation,” he added. It is led by the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, and seven (7) other MPs. Currently, it is at the draft stage and will be laid before the house and subsequently expected to be referred to the appropriate committee for consideration.

Police in Sawla in the Sawla Tuna Kalba District of the Savannah Region, have mounted a manhunt for a 31-year-old suspect known as Agaza of Gindabor, for the murder of 30-year-old Herdsman, Adama Dauda at Tuna. “Police accompanied by the complainant, proceeded to Wa Government Hospital and found a male adult aged about 30 years of Fulani extraction whose name was given as Adama Dauda, lying on a slab dead”. Agaza, the suspect is not a farmer that we will say maybe, the deceased left his cattle to graze on his farm. But during this festive season, some of them do get drunk and would be misbehaving” ASP Adjei Degraft -Armah explained. ASP Adjei Degraft -Armah said his officers are on the ground and will definitely hunt down suspect Agaza, who is on the run.

Mr Strikker, a career diplomat with a background in law, was appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ghana in 2016. Prior to that, he served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the meeting in Accra, the Minister congratulated Mr Strikker on the successful completion of his tour of duty in Ghana. She also mentioned the visit to Ghana in November 2017 of Madam Sigrid Kaag, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. The outgoing Ambassador informed the Minister that he would be retiring from active service at the end of his duty tour of Ghana.

The burial ceremony was witnessed by scores of sympathizers notably the Interior Minister Ambrose Derry, members of the Ghana Police service and many others. Health News of Sunday, 25 July 2021Source: GNAMs Philomena Quayeson, Blood Organiser for Eastern Regional Hospital Blood Bank, has encouraged Ghanaians to donate blood frequently, saying regular blood donors are likely to stay healthy devoid of any terminal sickness. In every 105 days, she said red blood cells in the human body system expire and come out as waste products through sweat, urine and faeces, indicating that regular blood donation guarantees the successful execution of the process for healthy living. The blood donation exercise was part of the annual activities of the FDA geared towards restocking the various blood banks across health facilities in the country. Close to 100 students of the SDA College of Education and other voluntary donors donated close to 100 pints of blood to support the regional blood bank. Ms Fordjour said blood donation was not scary as she had perceived and encouraged the public to donate blood to help save lives, especially during emergency cases at the hospitals.
