The deceased who was only identified as Vida was shot twice at a close range by her jealous husband. According to sources, the 35-year-old woman was shot by her husband after she allegedly decided to divorce him. Mr. Atta Francis, an eyewitness, who spoke to GhanaWeb said, the deceased (Vida), had broken up with her husband (Bashiru) for some months now, which the family was trying to resolve. According to him, the deceased (Vida) had moved from her husband’s house with their four(4) children due to an unresolved misunderstanding that had ensued between them. According to Francis, their 13-year-old daughter who decided to calm them was turned down by Bashiru who went ahead to shoot the wife without regret.

The money in the escrow account is said to have come from the royalty of limestone being mined in Odugblase. The fund, however, has been inaccessible for the past seventeen years due to a misunderstanding between the Yilo and Manya Krobo traditional councils over the rightful owners of the concession. The Paramount Chief said contrary to popular perceptions, no royalties from the mining activities are paid to the Yilo Krobo traditional council. So if they are mining limestone over here, it is important that something is paid to us,” he stressed.

The Public Affairs Director of the Service, Superintendent Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman, is now in charge of the Judicial Police in the Eastern region. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Samuel Kwasi Ofori takes over her position as the Public Affairs Director (PAD). Greater Accra Public Affairs Director, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Elizabeth Effia Tenge will now be in charge of the Volta Regional PAD. DSP Ms Juliana Obeng takes over her old position as the Greater Accra Regional PAD. The NDC are in court battling the citizenship of their candidate for Assin North constituency, James Gyakye Quayson who breached the provisions of the constitution with regard to dual citizenship. Justice Boakye, in his ruling, ordered for a re-election to be conducted in Assin North. Reacting to the issue, NPP National Youth Organizer noted that the NDC failed in its mandate to authenticate the documents of some of their candidates. “The NDC didn’t discharge their duties well. We even had conversations with INTERPOL and the foreign missions, so we spoke with all these people before accepting them as our candidates,” Nana B told Peace FM in an interview.
