Sputnik V saga: 'It's not normal for a minister to sign a contract without thinking' - Prof Azar
The Minister told a Parliamentary Committee that he was not thinking at the time he signed the contract because he was among other things, overwhelmed with the impact and damage the Coronavirus was wreaking. But in a Facebook post, Kwaku Azar submitted: "It’s not normal for a minister of State to sign a multimillion dollar contract without thinking. "It is even less normal for thinking people to justify a contract that was signed without thinking. The Minister contacted a middleman to help secure Russia-made Sputnik V jabs but it turned out that the proper procurement processes were not followed as revealed in an exposé in a foreign newspaper. The said contract has since been abrogated by government with Attorney General stating that portions of the deal were skewed against government.

Summon US embassy over hoisting of LGBTQI+ flag – Sam George tasks Akufo-Addo
The US Embassy according to reports has been hoisting a flag that represents Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer community in the country. Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana...... date, Sam George said that the incident has come to his notice and that he will take action against the embassy. Sam George who described the hoisting of the flag as ‘needless display of showmanship,’ stressed that diplomacy requires that embassies do not act in ways that contravenes the laws and values of their host country. The Vienna Convention on diplomacy states that diplomats must be respectful of the local laws of their host country. If the host country criminalizes LGBQT as it is currently, it is an affront to the sovereignty of this state hoisting an LGBTQ flag in the country.

US$5m bribe saga: Akufo-Addo responds to petition seeking removal of Chief Justice
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary to the president, Nana Asante Bediatuo, the president said steps had already been instituted to determine the removal or otherwise of the Chief Justice. He however indicated that he is not satisfied with the letter though he admits it is a step in the right direction. “It is a giant step towards our expectations because we want to get to the bottom of the matter and the processes must go on. “His Lordship is saddened that, without any shred of evidence, his name has been dragged into this sordid and potentially criminal matter. His Lordship asserts that he has had no personal interaction either with the plaintiff or his lawyer on this matter or in any other matter,” the Chief Justice said in the petition.

Ghana recorded positive GDP growth in 2020 - Akufo-Addo
Whereas there are positive signs of recovery emerging from many parts of the world, there are still some countries that are facing dire conditions. We in Ghana, through hard work and the grace of God, have however been placed firmly back on a path to recovery as recent credible assessments have established. “Indeed, even in the midst of a global recession, our economy was one of the very few to have recorded a positive GDP growth in 2020. This development has been buttressed further by the news that in the first quarter of 202, the economy witnessed, according to the Ghana Statistical Service, a 3.1% rate of GDP growth.
