Akufo-Addo sacks Adwoa Safo as Gender Minister

The statement added that Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister, Sanitation and Water Resources, will continue as the caretaker minister until a substantive Minister. “In accordance with article 81(a) of the Constitution, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has revoked the appointment of Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, with immediate effect. “The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah, will continue to act as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, until such a time that President Akufo-Addo appoints a substantive Minister,” the statement from the Presidency concluded.

Dampare lists 11 public institutions that should be investigated for corruption
In the said report, the Police service was ranked as the highest institution that takes bribes and engages in corruption in Ghana. Other institutions including the Ghana Immigration Service, GRA customs officers and Lands Commission were mentioned. But in a 5-page statement released on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, the IGP raised concerns about how that a number of other institutions including parliament, Attorney General and Registrar General’s offices were not also investigated. According to him, some other public institutions which were left out of the research deal regularly with the public and should have been included accordingly. Dampare, whilst further raising concerns about the methodology adopted for the research, quizzed why the institutions that undertook a corruption survey on other organizations in Ghana did not self-assess themselves.

Adwoa Safo’s absence, the NPP has 136 then NDC side, currently, there is an injunction in Assin North, that brings their number to 136. Because 136, 136 and you need a simple majority, you need 1 or 2 from the NDC. He added that the committee failed to decide on Adwoa Safo because she failed to appear before the committee to explain why she has absented herself from the House since December 2021. However, unconfirmed reports indicate that the majority members of the Privileges Committee of Parliament recommended that Adwoa Safo should be removed in the committee's report submitted to the House.

Parliament approves loan agreement on Suame interchange barely 1-week after majority leader ‘attacks’

This approval is barely a week after residents attacked the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for the area, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu over the poor nature of the roads. It took police to calm tension and shield the MP from angry residents after he attempted to address them. In responding to this, the majority stated that he understands the plight of his constituents as he has no intention to take any decision against them.

'Meet me at the FPU' – Junior officer challenges Chief Superintendent of Police

Koku Anyidoho, Chief Executive Officer of the Atta-Mills Institute, AMI, said at the 10th official commemoration of Atta-Mills’ passing disclosed what motivated him to champion the cause of renovating Asomdwee Park, the final resting place of his former boss. He said the former President shows himself to him (Anyidoho) at night begging him to do all it takes to give him a befitting resting place. “I, Samuel Koku Tsitsope Anyidoho, I continue to be burdened when Asomdwee park was becoming a scourge on the conscience, the eye and the spirit of the Republic of Ghana. “…and begs me and says that ‘Koku, if anybody and everybody turns their back, I beg you, please whatever it will take to give me a befitting resting place, please do it and God will bless you’,” he stressed. The 10th anniversary celebration was observed officially by the state at a commissioning of the Asomdwee Park.

Anyidoho breaks down, weeps at Atta Mills’ 10th anniversary celebration
Koku Anyidoho who was until the demise of the late head of state, was his aide, shed tears profusely while the choir was singing a hymn. The visibly pained Koku Anyidoho had to eventually be consoled by another person at the event. “To the glory of God, in 2020, His Excellency President Akufo-Addo Dankwa gave the go-ahead for full construction of the Asomdwee Park to commence,” he said. A monument of the late President was unveiled and the renovated park was commissioned by the president. Other persons including Former Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament, Enoch Teye Mensah, Former NDC members, Allotey Jacobs, and Samuel Koku Anyidoho made an appearance at the event.
