This comes after the investor, Bosai Mineral Group from China, has formally written to government over its decision to sell 80 percent of its stake in the company and exit. According to the report, the Chinese firm made its decision to exit Ghana as a result of the non-renewal of its mining lease with the GBCL which is expected to expire in January 2022. But the establishment of a new mine is said to take up to a year to develop while some workers of the company have urged government to swiftly find a new strategic investor of the mine. The Chinese investor upon taking over the mine has increased production from 600,000 tonnes to around 1.4 million tonnes. It has also, through diverse ways, boosted the fortunes of company with huge profit recorded of US$4 million recorded in 2019 and US$ 6 million recorded in 2020.

Some of the infractions included contract irregularities, tax irregularities, procurement irregularities, payroll irregularities, cash irregularities, challenges retrieving loans from debtors among others. The report notes that outstanding debts and challenges in retrieving loans from debtors accounted for a chunk of the irregularities perpetrated by the statutory institutions, totaling GH¢10 billion. This was followed by cash irregularities which accounted for over GH¢1.8 billion and procurement irregularities, GH¢848 million. He suggested for those who deserve jail term to be sent to jail and those who are to refund monies to do so so it would serve as a deterrent to others.

Beverly on Monday, August 16, just a week after losing her home called off a GoFundMe account created by Yvonne Nelson to raise funds for her. According to him, the move will ensure the independence and objectivity of internal auditors will be cemented under a proposed Internal Audit Service. In an interaction on Citi TV’s Point of View segment monitored by GhanaWeb, Dr Osae explained a proposed Internal Audit Service will ensure that all internal auditors will work autonomously. “Once it becomes a service, all these internal auditors will be under the service, so then they can have the required independence and objectivity to protect the government,” Dr. Osae said. The Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency however revealed that there is Bill currently under consideration with the Ministry of Finance for the proposal of setting up an Internal Audit Service. The IAA has the oversight responsibility to conduct audit for public service institutions with the objective to co-ordinate, facilitate and provide quality assurance for internal audit activities within the Ministries, Departments and Agencies and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
