GOIL has also revised its prices, with petrol selling at GH¢10.24, diesel at GH¢12.53, and Super XP 95 at GH¢13.35. According to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), this is the second fuel price increase recorded in 2026. Ghana’s fuel price floor is the minimum pump price set by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), which prevents Oil Marketing Companies from selling fuel below a fixed level. Commercial drivers may pass on the higher fuel costs to passengers through transport fare increases, while delivery and logistics expenses for businesses could also rise. For households, the fuel price hike could contribute to higher prices of goods and services, as transport costs often influence food prices and general market expenses.

General News of Sunday, 15 February 2026Source: ghanaiantimes.com.ghUnless gender equality is embedded in Africa’s macro economic planning, public financing, peace and security, the continent’s development will remain incomplete, President John Dramani Mahama has noted. He said despite decades of declarations, Africa’s gender agenda remains chronically under funded as gender responsible programmes are the first casualties of fiscal constraints. Gender equality makes economic sense.”According to him, investment in women increases productivity because every woman entrepreneur creates jobs and every girl educated multiplies prosperity and every barrier removed unleashes innovation. “At a time of global uncertainty and economic shocks, climate crisis, and growing resistance to gender equality, Africa must stand firm. Gender equality is non-negotiable.”He outlined five pillars around which if the continent rallied gender matters would be on the front burner of national discourse.

He said the cut from GH¢3,625.00 to GH¢2,587.00 per 64kg bag for the remainder of the 2025/2026 crop season, following what government described as a reset of the pricing formula, amounted to what he termed a betrayal of cocoa farmers. Adjei-Worlanyo argued that while in opposition, the NDC had accused the previous NPP administration of underpaying farmers and pledged to raise the producer price from GH¢3,100 to GH¢7,500 per bag ahead of the 2024 general election. The NPP communicator maintained that the same pricing adjustments now being implemented would have been strongly opposed by the NDC if introduced by the previous government. Industry analysts note that international price fluctuations, exchange rate pressures and financing challenges continue to affect the Ghana Cocoa Board and the wider cocoa value chain. Cocoa remains one of Ghana’s top export earners and a critical source of foreign exchange for the economy.
