Management of beverage manufacturers, Kasapreko Company Limited, has debunked some claims making rounds in the media circles. Some publications on February 4, accused the company of engaging in money laundering activities. But Kasapreko has, in a press statement released on Monday, taken strong exception to the said claim purported to have been included in supposed suits in court over alleged financial crimes. According to them, the company’s track record makes it unfathomable that such a claim will be associated with its dealings. Kasapreko also hinted at a possible legal action to set the record straight.

According to him, this has posed some form of intimidation for him such that using his Land Cruiser vehicle has even become a problem. Ayariga explains that, driving a Land Cruiser while people are who elected him are struggling to get public transport to move around gives the people enough reason to be angry as they believe the politicians get it easy while they are suffering over a dysfunctional public system. Because of the anger, I don’t feel comfortable driving in my Land Cruiser again. Ordinarily, you won’t see me driving my land cruiser in town because I know people are angry. “People are very angry and that is why a soldier takes up arms even though they may not like military rule momentarily it addressed their anger" Ayariga noted.

The Chairman of the Despite Group of Companies, Osei Kwame Despite, knows how to get tongues wagging. They share the videos and photos and praise him for his hard work and what he has been able to do with his life. The fact that Jeff Bezos is worth $183billion does not make Despite poor because Despite’s net worth may not be up to a billion. That was what Martin Luther King Jnr conveyed in his 1967 speech at the Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia titled, “What is your life’s blueprint?” In that speech, he said:“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry.

Prof Stephen Kwaku Asare, otherwise known as Kwaku Azar, has urged the government to look into tax avoidance, tax evasion and tax exemption for the lost taxes of the country and not Mobile Money (Momo). Kwaku Azar on his Facebook timeline wrote, “the problem is not that most Ghanafuo (Ghanaians) do not pay taxes. The problem is that most Ghanafuo who should be paying taxes are not doing so, unlawfully, and in some cases are even being exempted from doing so. But that is not a good reason to be looking there for our lost tax revenues. He added that the 1.75% tax is also to enhance financial inclusion and protect the vulnerable in the country.

Speaking on JoyNews’ ‘The Pulse’ programme on Friday, Dr Fiadomor indicated that the only body entitled to take such an action is the General Assembly of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA). Once the Assembly confirms a Chief Executive, that Chief Executive now becomes a member of the Assembly of STMA that can meet and suspend the Chief Executive on stated grounds but the President doesn’t have the requisite standard to suspend the Chief Executive,” he explained. So immediately a Chief Executive is confirmed, he now becomes a bonafide member of the Assembly. The Chief Executive if he unfortunately dies, leaves the position. The General Assembly by the two-thirds majority can remove the Chief Executive from office.

He was reacting to the news of the suspended Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) for Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul-Mumin Issah, by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The MCE is alleged to have committed a motor traffic offence and verbally assaulted a police officer who was performing his lawful duty. “All these things show that we have not understood the essence of constitutionalism and institutionalism. The institutions must accept their independence and that they are there according to only what the constitution says. If we do all things, then I think people in authority will also respect institutions,” he said.

By that, the multiple award-winning investigative and anti-corruption journalist said that the sorry state of the current GJA makes it appear more like an association for jokers, rather than what it should be. “The GJA of today has lost a sense of direction. The GJA of today has lost its sense of purpose. The GJA of today has even lost its sense of shame because the extent to which they’ll stoop so low. General News of Wednesday, 2 February 2022Source: www.ghanaweb.comInjunction application was granted by the Supreme CourtSeven Justices granted the applicationThe application was against the Assin North MPA seven-member Supreme Court Justices granted an injunction application against the Assin North NDC MP, James Gyakye Quayson, after a member of the governing NPP prayed to the Court to bar the MP from holding himself as a parliamentarian. The High Court had ruled on August 4, 2021, that, the NDC MP at the time of filing his documents to contest the election in Assin North, still held allegiance to another country other than Ghana. But the MP appealed the decision and prayed that the Appeals Court suspends the execution of a high court order that seeks to remove him as an elected Member of Parliament. Quayson, through his lawyers, argued that “if the execution of the judgement is not stayed, the people of the Assin North Constituency will lack representation in Parliament for a significant period. “If the High Court decision does not stay, it could give rise to considerable political tension in the Assin North Constituency and possible disturbances of the peace.”

His colleague lawmaker and Minority Chief Whip has revealed why a long-promised probe into Ahenkorah’s ballot snatching and chewing episode in the election of a new Speaker has stalled. In an interview earlier this year on Hausa speaking Kumasi-based Haske FM, Muntaka submitted thus: “Bagbin is our Speaker but has refused to admit that motion. After a rancorous process that saw Bagbin winning the vote, Ahenkorah snatched a ballot and made for the exit but he was accosted by Muntaka and marshals but he has already chewed the said ballot.
