Some renovations such as the cleaning and painting of class rooms, Black boards benches are actually being carried out in most colleges. The decision disclosed in a communique signed this Saturday 27th August 2016 excluded these trainees from the final list, a few days to the end of the training. It is worth noting that, two other police students were laid off from the training on 3rd August 2016 for unruly behaviours that are considered unhealthy to the National security corps. A similar act was reported on 18th August 2016 when an Inspector of Police was fired from the school in relation to indiscipline. The elements excluded from the police force were admitted after a competitive entrance exam launched on 18th April 2015 to recruit 3000 police officers and reinforce peace in the country.

According to officials at the Ministry of Secondary Education, 369 files in question were crosschecked out of which only 2 were genuine. Moreover, out of the 369 files, only 146 teachers in question presented their documents as demanded by the Ministry. It was also reviewed that some of the fake transfers were orchestrated by some government officials. Any teacher who fails to adhere the call will receive sanctions from both the Ministry of Secondary Education and the Public Service.

Yesterday, August 30, 2016 CT made a stop at the National Press Card Commission Permanent Secretariat in Yaounde where it was realised that amongst the 394 Press Cards available more than 250 had already been distributed. According to the Permanent Secretary of the National Press Card Commission, Nana Soh Pascaline epouse Pippa, amongst all the applications for a Press Cards, 469 were accepted upon reservation because the files of the individuals were not completed. It was also revealed that some 94 requests for Press Cards were rejected by the commission. It should be recalled that the Press Card Commission is not out to punish individuals but to ensure that there is order and professionalism in the media landscape in the country.

The Minister Jaque Fame Ndongo granted the request and the meeting was presided over by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education. Some directors of the Ministry of Higher Education and a delegation of four persons from the Pan African Institute of Higher Learning all proceeded discussions on the possibilities of accreditation. Discussions during the meeting was frank and instructive, stipulating that the accreditation of the Institute’s teaching programs shall be based on the inspection report to be submitted to the Minister of Higher Education. Another meeting in line with this has been scheduled for Thursday 1st September 2016 after which an inspection team will be dispatched by the Minister of Higher Education to the Campuses of the Pan African Institute for Development in Cameroon.

In the same context, St Monica University in Buea is not authorised to offer doctorate/Ph.D. Any person, holding a Ph.D. degree from this university is in infringement of the current law. Moreover, Minesup specifies, any candidate who wishes to register in a private institute of higher education (IPES) in Cameroon must check the accreditation status of the said institute on the website of the ministry for further information. “Investigations currently underway at Minesup will enable us to examine this accreditation status for IPES throughout the country and those who will be caught infringing the current law will be summoned to the Ethics sub-Commission of the National Private Higher Education Commission”, Jacques Fame Ndongo warned.

The creation of this digital economy development plan is the result of an order given to the Cameroonian government by the Head of State, during his address to the Nation given at the end of 2015. President Biya then invited his collaborators to work so as to seize all opportunities provided by the digital economy, to speed the development of the country. As a reminder, in its 2016 report on ICT entitled “innovation in the digital economy”, the World Economic Forum (WEF) ranks Cameroon at the 124th position out of 139 countries in the world.

This road project has a structuring aspect for the region as it will be one of the main links of an alternative corridor to the Windhoek-Tripoli one to link the Central African Republic to Cameroon, Gabon to the south and ensure the interconnection with the Brazzaville-Pointe-Noire road to Congo.

According to the partnership signed this 30th August 2016, the first contigent of buses will arrive Cameroon by 31st October 2016. The Portugese company will provide 150 buses which will be operational at 13 bus stations in Yaounde before going to other parts of the country. The transport fare as indicated by Minister Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o will stand at 200 CFAF with Government subventioning 100 CFAF. The agreement worth 17 billion CFAF is a stitch in time following difficulties many Cameroonians especially those in urban areas face in moving from one place to another.
