DHAKA, May 15, 2024 (BSS) - Journalist leaders today demanded withdrawal of entry restriction for journalists inside the Bangladesh Bank as early as possible. They said if the journalists are allowed to enter freely inside the central bank like in the past to serve their professional duties, then it would eventually serve the purpose of the government. The journalist leaders came up with such remarks at a meeting, convened to apprise the leaders about the recent move of the central bank scrapping the free entry of the journalists at the Bangladesh Bank Bhaban, held at the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) Auditorium in the capital. Presided over by ERF president Refayet Ullah Mirdha, its general secretary Abul Kashem moderated the meeting. It is mentionable that the central bank has imposed bar on the access of journalists into the Bangladesh Bank Bhaban for the last one and a half months.

The prime minister encourages to build women up as the main driving force for change instead of considering them only as victimsThere is no alternative to a combined social movement to prevent violence against women, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina says. “We will have to build up our women as the main driving force for change instead of only considering them as victims. There is no alternative to a combined social movement to stave off child marriage, dowry and violence against women,” she said. Through the launching of the national helpline ‘109’ to prevent the repression of women and children, an effective measure has been taken to tackle sexual harassment and child marriage, Hasina said. The participation of women in the 12th national election was 36.24 percent higher than in previous general elections, Hasina added.

People still likely will see Google's traditional website links and ads for simple searches for things like a store recommendation or weather forecasts. By the end of the year, Google expects the AI overviews to be part of its search results for about 1 billion people. The injection of more AI into Google's search engine marks one of the most dramatic changes the company made since its inception in the late 1990s. AI overviews could undercut ads tied to Google's search engine — a business that reeled in $175 billion in revenue last year alone. Website publishers also will be hurt if the AI overviews result in fewer clicks on website links lower on the results page.
