Bangladesh keen to import hydroelectricity from Bhutan: PM
"Import of hydroelectricity will require a tripartite agreement involving India and we have already brought the matter to their (India's) attention," she told the Bhutanese Prime Minister. The Bhutanese Prime Minister thanked the Bangladesh premier for building a burn unit in his country and giving essential drugs for one year. He highly praised the development of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina said Bhutan has a special place in the hearts of all Bangladeshis as it had first recognized Bangladesh as an independence nation after 1971 Liberation War. The Bhutanese Prime Minister highly praised Saima Wazed, only daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the World Health Organisation (WHO) regional director for South-East Asia and mentioned her recent visit to Bhutan.

When Modi was the chief minister of the western state of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, BJP enjoyed strong majorities, allowing him to govern decisively. Modi's new term as prime minister, therefore, is likely to be fraught with challenges on building consensus on contentious political and policy issues in the face of different interests of regional parties and a stronger opposition, analysts say.

'Welcome to India' banners featuring PM Hasina, Modi seen across Delhi
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to attend the ceremony, marking her as the first "distinguished" guest. During her stay in New Delhi, Prime Minister Hasina will have a private meeting with Modi following the swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7:15 pm on Sunday. The ceremony, following the 2024 general elections, will see the oath-taking of Prime Minister Modi and his Council of Ministers. Prime Minister Hasina is scheduled to depart New Delhi for Dhaka on Monday, expected to arrive at 8 pm. Bomb-making materials found in Netrokona ‘militant den’
Police say materials for making bombs have been found at a fish farm they suspect was being used as a militant hideout in Netrokona’s Sadar Upazila. Nearly 150 police personnel, alongside members of a bomb disposal unit from Dhaka, entered the farm around 8:30 am on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com. Our counter-terrorism unit’s bomb disposal unit is at work. But it may take all day today.”Netrokona Additional Superintendent of Police Harunur Rashid said that 150 members of the police, including the bomb disposal unit and anti-terrorism unit, arrived from Dhaka at 8:30 am. Constable Monirul fatally shot by SMG gunfire

Four get death penalty for 2016 murder of driver in Jamalpur
A Jamalpur court has sentenced four people to death for the murder of the driver of a battery-run three-wheeler in Sarishabari Upazila in 2016. Those sentenced to death include Sohag, identified with a single name, Md Jakir Hossain, Rubel Mia, and Moni Taheri, also known as Monir Hossain. According to case files, on Oct 1, 2016, driver Laizu Mia had his three-wheeler stolen and was strangled to death on the Sarishabari-Tarakandi road in Mulbari. The day after the incident, the victim’s father, Amjad Hossain Anju, filed a murder case at Sarishabari Police Station. Police arrested Rubel Mia and Moni Taheri suspecting their involvement before detaining the other two.

Adequate allocations have been kept in the proposed budget to carry forward these works, he said.
